Andy Murray excited to play mixed doubles with Serena Williams at Wimbledon

Asked about Williams, a spokeswoman for the All England Club said that some players had their own stringers who may use plastic.

"I had said that I wanted to stop at Wimbledon, because I didn't want to play anymore", Murray said after his Queen's Club triumph.

"We're a lot alike on the court", she added. "If I don't think I can win the match then I won't even step on the court".

"For Andy I don't think he's played mixed since the Olympics here in 2012 with Laura Robson when they got the silver medal".

To get to match point, Williams smacked a swinging forehand volley victor, then pumped both arms, leaned forward and screamed.

Andy Murray is grateful to have the chance to be on the same side of the net as the great Serena Williams at his home grand slam.

"All right, done, just for you guys".

Margarita Gasparyan, meanwhile, was left in tears as - after she suffered an awkward landing - she had to retire with the score at 5-7 6-5, handing eighth seed Elina Svitolina a reprieve.

Afterward, she addressed her health related to a knee injury earlier this season.

This will be the second year in a row that Routliffe will play in the doubles at Wimbledon.

Murray is a two-time Wimbledon singles champion, winning the major in 2013 and 2016.

Murray has similarly paired up with a sibling, in his case brother Jamie, to win a pair of doubles titles, but neither were in a Grand Slam event, and he has no career titles in mixed doubles. That's another qualifier, 18-year-old Kaja Juvan of Slovenia, who was born a little more than a year after Williams won the 1999 U.S. Open.

The "broosh" (Nike swoosh logo + brooch) is made out of 34 Swarovski crystals, 34 for the age she was when she won her last Wimbledon.

"She's learnt how to play so well on it for the years". Bacsinszky reached the quarterfinals in 2015, but she now has lost all three of her career meetings with Stephens. World No. 1 and French Open champion Ashleigh Barty was among one of several women's players to turn him down.

Now back on court and playing "pain free" Murray said he meant to play singles again, although he has spoken of possibly continuing exclusively as a doubles player. But I just try and go about my business the exact same way.

Murray, married with two children, also broke the trend and became one of the few top male players to hire a female coach when he took on Amelie Mauresmo for two years from 2014-16. "And you have to enjoy every minute".
