Phil Neville says England not beating U.S. will be failure

Now it's the women's turn - and they are determined to go one better and bring the trophy home.

With 11 goals and four clean sheets from five matches, England are in fine fettle ahead of their second successive World Cup semi-final, while five-goal Ellen White is vying with US star Alex Morgan for the Golden Boot.

While rooms are still available this week for the Women's World Cup, going for more than 600 euros a night, they are available in two weeks for a reasonable 150 euros. England's odds became longer, increasing to +700.

Her place as captain was revealed in a video by Prince William.

"Both are major doubts", he said about centre-back pairing Steph Houghton and Millie Bright. She's so assured and drives a team forward in an attacking sense. When she gets the service she needs, she is deadliest when racing in behind defences and finishing from hard, wide angles. California-born Karen Bardsley is an experienced goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, Ellen White has proved to be a dominant player on England's team.

"She has that Roberto Carlos stature that he had within the men's game".

"I would assume everybody is doing that", she said.

'It's been attractive to see her fearlessness as we reach the highest level and the highest stages, ' related Press.

She recalls: "I used to get a lot of stick".

Nevertherless, I would not be surprised if it went the other way.

"England would not do it", Neville told reporters, per The Guardian.

Rapinoe and Alex Morgan are among four players with a tournament-high five goals, including a dominant stretch by Rapinoe with all four of the team's goals against Spain and France.

"I had zero opportunity to play football over here (in Europe) so that's really what America gave me, an environment to put on my first ever team uniform", Ellis said.

Kirby was also named on the Ballon d'Or shortlist at the end of a year ago.

The way to win is to catch the US with their lack of speed in defense and the way to do that is to play fast and direct.

Bronze said she did not consider herself worthy of such a billing, though White thinks she belongs on the shortlist for this year's Ballon d'Or.

She again backed Krieger's comments.

Houghton added that, "for those players involved in 2015, we never really expected to get to that semifinal". Both teams have won all their games so far.

"I haven't seen Phil on the inside so I can't speak to what he's like with his team (but) he conducts himself in a great way", she said.

She's only played six minutes in the tournament so far but at 22 is a huge prospect for the future.

England Coach Phil Neville, a former Manchester United and World Cup defender who has been on the job since January 2018, has instilled a belief that the Lionesses' time has come.

That said, these Lionesses are fitter than I've seen them in past tournaments, but the U.S. are still more experienced and have greater endurance.

Like the United States, the Lionesses have won all five matches.

What has driven this explosion of interest?

It's no secret that the USWNT's World Cup run has been marred by controversies.

Part of it is because Morgan is marketable, relatable, and a role model for girls playing for youth clubs and in college.

There will be turnovers if England press this United States of America defence, through Parris and White, and that's the way to beat them.
