Trump smirks, jokes with Putin: 'Don't meddle in the election'

The G20 will be one of May's last trips as prime minister as Britain awaits a new leader.

It was their first meeting since Robert Mueller concluded his investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 United States presidential election.

Asked Saturday whether the issue was discussed during the meeting, Putin said that "we talked about it", but didn't elaborate.

Sir Elton John has written an open letter to Vladimir Putin accusing him of "hypocrisy" over his claims Russian Federation has "no problems" with gay people. We have strong contacts on the ground where we are coordinating efforts to fight terrorism. "It is a sad irony that Sir Elton John himself promised back in 2015 that he would try to positively influence [Russian President] Vladimir Putin's gay rights attitude".

At a summit last November in Argentina, Trump canceled what would have been the leaders' first post-Helsinki meeting after Russian Federation seized two Ukrainian vessels and their crew in the Sea of Azor.

The president answered "Of course", then turned to Putin and facetiously said, "Don't meddle in the election".

USA officials have also put pressure on other governments worldwide to drop Huawei from plans for fifth generation, or 5G, network development.

"But Putin hasn't refused to have contacts with Japan. Why?"

UK Prime Minister Theresa May and Russian President Vladimir Putin before meeting to discuss thorny subjects, including the poisoning of former spy Sergei Skripal in Salisbury past year. "Putin is trying to use an improved relationship with Japan as diplomatic leverage against the US and China", he wrote in the paper.

It was their first formal face-to-face since the poisoning in the English city of Salisbury of former spy Sergei Skripal previous year that plunged ties into a deep freeze.

Britain immediately accused Russian Federation of poisoning them with the nerve agent Novichok, accusations Moscow has denied. He playfully repeated request while pointing at Putin.

With Erdogan, Trump said the leaders will "look at different solutions" to Turkey's planned purchase of the Russian-made S-400 surface-to-air missile system.

Putin has denied meddling in the American election to help Trump, even though Mueller uncovered extensive evidence to the contrary.

"As to the forthcoming visit, preparations for it are underway".

Speaking Saturday after the Group of 20 summit in Osaka, Putin said that he and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed the issue during their bilateral meeting and agreed on the need to continue curbing the oil output.

He added that it's yet to be decided whether the cuts will be extended for half a year or, possibly nine months. "You don't have this problem in Russian Federation but we do", Trump said.

US-Russia relations have been sour for years, worsening after Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014 and backed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the Syrian war.

"And they've agreed to buy farm products", he said.

"The length of the extension is still to be decided".

The line got a chuckle out of Putin.

Trump said during the news conference that he "campaigned better, smarter, hotter than Hillary Clinton". Putin underlined that it was important to wait for the court's verdict in relation to this matter and solve this problem in a calm, working regime. "There is no decision yet. We talked about a lot of other things", including arms control, he added.
