Roy century lays platform for England's 386-6 against Bangladesh

Jason Roy helped himself to a sparkling century as England got back to winning ways at the World Cup with a 106-run victory over Bangladesh.

Both have played together 20 one-day internationals - England won 16 and Bangladesh won four. We played some good cricket against South Africa and hopefully we will play good cricket too.

Roy got the innings going with a straight-driven four in the second over off Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza and gave the same treatment to Shakib.

Captain Eoin Morgan had concerns for his job as skipper when his team were beaten by the same opposition in Adelaide, and his batsmen ensured there would be no repeat.

L Jason Roy, Mark Wood and Liam Plunkett celebrate after the 2019 Cricket World Cup group stage match between England and Bangladesh at Sophia Gardens stadium in Cardiff, south Wales, on 8 June 2019, as England beat Bangladesh by 106 runs. In response, England chased down the total easily as skipper Eoin Morgan slammed an unbeaten 133. However, England do lead the lowest score tally, with 147 to 143.

"Obviously, England played brilliantly".

Bangladesh knocked England out of the 2015 World Cup but it was a different story in the Welsh capital. Neither had a good game in the defeat to Pakistan and both came away lighter in the pocket after being hit by the match referee for expressing frustration in the field. In the second innings, Bangladesh tried their best in getting to the total but kept losing wickets at regular interval.

Jofra Archer, admittedly with the aid of a strong wind that was mainly blowing behind him in Cardiff, bowled the fastest opening spell ever recorded by an England bowler in an ODI, averaging 145.89kph (90.7mph). The talented all rounder scored his maiden World Cup hundred against England on Saturday. The track looked as green and tufty as a martian's chest-hair, but Bangladesh's bowlers - seam or spin - found no sign of life upon it.

England move on from this game to take on West Indies in Southampton.

From then on, he appeared to be hindered while running between the wickets.

"There was a bit of change in the game plan". They now have the ideal opportunity to avenge the humiliating elimination of the 2015 World Cup when they face Bangladesh.
