49ers chug beer, fire Sharks fans up for Game 7

SAP Center was shaking when it was officially announced that San Jose Sharks captain Joe Pavelski would be back in the lineup for Game 7, his first skate in this second-round series against the Colorado Avalanche. Will home ice give the Sharks an advantage, or will the Colorado Avalanche snag victory from the jaws defeat?

He was certainly a danger on the final play. Landeskog got back up, took the pass from rookie defenseman Cale Makar and sent it by Martin Jones to help the Avalanche escape elimination. Nobody recored more hits by San Jose in the game than the power winger, who still hasn't appeared to hit full stride on a regular basis during these playoffs. St. Louis has been great when they play hockey outside the Show Me state. The Sharks' Joonas Donskoi got his first goal of the playoff in the second to make it 3-1 Sharks in the second. And if the Western Conference Finals needs seven games, it's going to be a long, gruesome battle. "Who would have thought before the season?". Throw in the oft-recorded tale of how the Blues were last in the league on January 3, and there's no doubt adversity doesn't impact this club.

"It's nothing we haven't seen", he said. He sealed the win with an empty-net goal, and in between, he did everything else the Sharks needed on both ends of the ice. Binnington made 19 saves but was left exposed by his defense on numerous occasions. The Sharks earned the victory and were the better team.

Execution of Craft ~ Honing your craft is key to any job, and the Sharks displayed their skill set and depth, putting the flawless finishing touches from all angles. We just have to get to work. "Many people in the building, a lot of them saw the injury".

This has been a back-and-forth series.

According to oddsmakers, the Sharks are a -140 favorite to win on the moneyline. The combined score in the series is 17-16 in favor of the Sharks.

"You have to defend at this time of year, you have to have a heaviness to your game", DeBoer said. "It's unusual. And it's something we could have done without tonight, no question". Hopefully, they got it right.

Expectations for the Sharks were pretty high this season.

The home team takes a 2-1 lead into first intermission. It was most obvious in Game 5, when MacKinnon and Rantanen combined for just three shots on goal.

Jost pulled the Avalanche within 3-2 just 51 seconds into the third, corralling a rebound and scoring on a backhander.

The Avs' strongest skater, Nathan MacKinnon, went awkwardly into the boards a few minutes into the game and headed to the locker room soon after with what seemed to be a shoulder injury.

Now after surviving what they did the first two rounds, the Sharks are positioned to deliver the long-awaited title that they have never been able to seize. Jones has surrendered just one goal to Colorado in the opening period all series.

Remember all of the hits, animosity and general bad blood the Sharks had in their first-round series in these playoffs?

"It still really is day-to-day", Pavelski said. I wish I could tell you what he's gone through from seeing it firsthand. If we play the right way, we'll have success.

"His biggest thing is he doesn't change his game no matter what the situation is", teammate Erik Karlsson said. "What are you going to do?".
