Harris Poll: Biden +32 Over Bernie, Mayor Pete In Third

In South Carolina, Biden will for the first time since launching his campaign show whether he can appeal to black voters, who make up 60% of the state's primary electorate and 20% of the Democratic base overall.

That's a 4-point improvement over a week and marks his highest percentage in the poll this year. The number breaks down like this: 19 House members and four senators. But his policy positions are not almost as popular with voters as he is, a problem some other big-name Democratic candidates don't face. That one had Biden just seven points ahead of Sanders.

The escalating 2020 battle between Biden and Trump began the day the former vice president formally launched his campaign.

It's been many days since former vice president Joe Biden entered the 2020 Presidential race so the field has now had some time to settle. Forty percent of Democrats favor Biden. Sanders comes in after the former vice president at 13 percent.

At the time in 1991, Biden was chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, meaning he presided over the hearing.

When it comes to who voters think has the best chance of beating President Trump in the 2020 general election, Biden still has a significant lead, with 40 percent of respondents saying as such.

"We are grateful for the strong support in South Carolina from so numerous state's most respected and accomplished political and community leaders", said Kendall Corley, South Carolina State Director of the Biden campaign.

As Democrats weigh a field of 20 White House hopefuls that includes candidates who would be the youngest or oldest president ever elected, new Reuters/Ipsos polling shows age could be a liability at either end of the spectrum. Yes, Biden beat Trump in head-to-head contests - but so did South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sen.

The average Biden lead over Sanders minus the Monmouth poll? To qualify for the first debate in June, candidates need to receive donations from 65,000 different donors.

Though the creator did not reveal his identity, he told CNBC that thousands of people have mistaken the website for Biden's actual campaign website. These numbers should not be seen as predictive.

Biden has so far deflected opportunities to draw contrasts with other Democratic candidates - even Sanders, who has been most aggressive in attacking the former vice president's record.
