Union Minister and BJP candidate from Asansol, Babul Supriyo's auto was vandalised allegedly by stone pelting Trinamool Congress supporters, but the Minister escaped unharmed with only the rear glass of the vehicle being damaged.
The petition sought a top court direction to the Election Commission to decide on the complaints filed against Modi and Shah "without any delay or demur, and in any case not later than 24 hours from the [court's] order",Scroll reported. The ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP accused each other of intimidating voters in the state, which has seen violence in all previous three phases despite stepped up central forces deployment. The National Democratic Alliance had swept 56 of these 72 seats in 2014. Polling for the Cooch Behar and Alipurduar constituencies took place in the first phase on April 11, while Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Raiganj voted on April 18. Though, the observers had earlier said that the coverage will be 98 per cent. The NDA, which is once again contesting 2019 Lok Sabha election under Narendra Modi's leadership, swept victory in 2014 Lok Sabha election as it won 336 seats while the saffron party managed 282 on its own. The total number of polling booths is 13,290. Voting for phase 4 will begin at 7 am and continue till 5 pm at all polling booths.
Fighting broke out in the Asansol constituency over security at polling booths, said Amit Jyoti Bhattacharya, a spokesman for the state election commission.
The naughty-n-brawny Salman Khan said, "I have voted...have you?"
'Jobs should be the priority for the new government, ' said Aaditya Nair, a hotel management student, as he stood in line outside a polling station in Mumbai.
Voting was being held in nine states.
Clashes and an incident of firing by a police personnel were reported inside a booth. Polling has been suspended as voters are protesting. "Violence is much less now compared to before", the actor-turned-politician said, according to reports. "When I entered the booth, I caught the Presiding Officer standing right behind the EVM". Then we caught the Presiding Officer red-handed. Prominent among them are Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Giriraj Singh, former JNU student leader Kanhaiya Kumar, former Union Minister Milind Murli Deora.
