Giants Take Duke QB Daniel Jones 6th Overall: Twitter Erupts

Gettleman called Manning while they were selecting Jones. He's not expected to start for Washington right away, but he could be the starter by Year 2.

"Ask the coach", Beckham wrote, referring to the cool relationship he had with Shurmur.

It's unclear when the passing of the torch will occur.

Haskins seemed to be amused by New York's stunning pick.

"Absolutely not", Gettleman said. He can rely on his arm strength a little too much, which turns into batted balls or interceptions.

Beckham fired back at another user who made fun of him crying. Haskins, who gets to stay close to home having grown up in Maryland, offers them an exciting future at the game's most important position.

From there, the floodgates were opened when Beckham tweeted with both his supporters and critics, at one point responding to a fan to say: "I gave them everything I had bruh bruh errr Sunday". So me speaking up to hopefully change a culture into something better, is bad for the culture? "Haskins, very smart, best pure pocket passer in this class, but if you're a scout who's pushing your GM to go in the route of Lock, you're banging on the table for the experience he has and some of the other things".

Apparently, the Giants wanted no part of that. Adding to the angst, Big Blue passed on the great Kentucky linebacker Josh Allen in order to draft Jones. "We're thrilled to get Daniel". He is just flawless for us.

Only two first-round quarterbacks since 2005 have sat and learned from the bench their entire rookie year before becoming a franchise QB: Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes.

"I've already talked with Eli and he's excited about it", Cutcliffe said. "Daniel Jones embraces something we believe in here-real swag is no swag".

Haskins completed 6-of-7 passes for 94 yards in the game, and also rushed for 24 yards on three carries.

Gettleman admittedly fell in love with Jones' tape.

Jones was the MVP of the Senior Bowl.

There was a range of opinions on Jones leading up to the draft.

The other "big" name taking a hit Thursday night was sizable MS receiver D.K. Metcalf, who also went unselected after being mocked as high as the top 10 at times this draft season.
