The Giants had been reluctant to trade Beckham, with GM Dave Gettleman insisting over the past few months that the club did not sign him to the historic deal in late August to trade him. It made him the highest-paid receiver in the National Football League at the time and seemed to cement his place on the Giants roster.
One Twitter user joked that LeBron James, the basketball star who left the Cleveland Cavaliers to play for the Los Angeles Lakers, will be running back to his old home town after the Browns acquired Beckham. The trade of Beckham was first reported by NFL.com, while New York's compensation was first reported by ESPN.
"Absolutely", Garrett told NFL Network's Total Access on Tuesday. Let's build a foundation here. "But we're not done yet in terms of getting this thing right". Meanwhile, Beckham has top-notch speed along with a great pair of hands to boot that would further expand Cleveland's playbook in the passing game. With this trade, we can probably assume that the Browns have officially swapped places. NY was looking for two first-round picks in a deal and nothing less. Beckham is a better route-runner, blocker, and has a better catch radius. "That's all I need to say about that". Can he still throw it, yeah, but it's been pretty safe and it's been, you know, cool catching shallow and trying to take it to the house. Beckham beat out Mayfield for Offensive Rookie of the Year. They will receive two early-round draft picks and a potential replacement for Collins.
This isn't a trade for the number one overall pick.
The fact that Cooks had 1,204 receiving yards to go along with five touchdowns and didn't miss a game shows he doesn't even compare to Beckham.
In 59 games Beckham caught 390 passes for 5,476 yards and 44 touchdowns, which was good enough for three Pro Bowl appearances. And whether he's tasked with covering Beckham or Jarvis Landry, Gilmore will have his work cut out for him.
Odell Beckham Jr.is headed to Cleveland.
He added that leaving the Giants is "bittersweet, but it is what it is".
Landry indicated that he heard it straight from Beckham. Any buzz about him going somewhere else was nonsense, as this was a one-horse race from the start, with just the Jets negotiating against Bell.
The Raiders previously made big moves on offense by trading for Brown and agreeing to a deal with tackle Trent Brown.
