Chicago PD seeks follow-up interview with Jussie Smollett

While news of the attack initially garnered widespread support widespread sympathy and support for Smollett, some appear to be backing away from their defense of the actor.

While TMZ and other "celebrity" outlets led the way in reporting Smollett's claims uncritically, mainstream outlets, including CNN, Vanity Fair, the Washington Post, and others accepted Smollett's version of events and cited it as yet another example of rising homophobia and racism in the Trump era.

While police are yet to confirm the latest developments, the brothers were arrested and released last week without charge.

The brothers who are accused of being the men involved in the altercation with Jussie Smollett have released a short statement that contradicts the alleged victim's account.

"Jussie and his attorneys anticipate being further updated by the Chicago Police Department on the status of the investigation and will continue to cooperate". He said they also yelled he was in "MAGA Country", an apparent reference to U.S. President Donald Trump's campaign slogan. According to a police statement after the incident, the actor said he was battered "about the face", had bleach poured on him and had a rope wrapped around his neck. They rehearsed the attack with Smollett days before.

"I come really, really hard against 45", he said. He was the underdog, the odds were stacked against him. He cried several times and said he couldn't bear the idea his attackers wouldn't be brought to justice. "But I'm going to [be], and I'm gonna stand strong with y'all", he told the audience. Or maybe even though I am a black woman, I still don't know what it's like to be a black man in America.

Pugh said on Sunday that a possible sit-down with investigators would depend on "scheduling availability".

Information from the interview "has in fact shifted the trajectory of the investigation", Guglielmi said Monday.

"We have to love each other regardless of what sexual orientation we are because it shows that we are united on a united front", Lee Daniels, the creator of "Empire", said in a video posted to his Instagram page on January 29.

His reps did not respond to request for comment.

Fox 32 has obtained the itemized list of what exactly was taken from the brothers home as evidence. "Nothing is further from the truth..."

In a statement from his attorneys issued Saturday, Smollett denied playing a role in the attack. She says in an emailed statement that his lawyers "will keep an active dialogue with Chicago police on his behalf". Our sources say the brothers performed per the rehearsal - they screamed out they recognized Jussie from "Empire" and then hurled the racist n-word and the homophobic f-word.

Earlier this week, police said reports that the attack against Smollett was a hoax were unconfirmed. "But Smollett was the flawless victim for a media that deems any skepticism heresy".

The Chicago police urgently want to speak with Jussie Smollett again over the alleged assault against theEmpire star late last month and his true involvement on what happened on the Windy City streets, but that ain't happening today. It was picked up at the direction of Smollett, said De Mar. The second week saw a decline of 1 million.

The series returns with new episodes on March 13. "It could be this was some kind of misguided effort to get attention".
