How to watch Packers vs. Redskins

Variety was the key to the Redskins' offensive success early. This team looked lackadaisical from the start. Cornerback Kevin King, who left Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings with a groin injury also did not practice.

The Redskins offense burst onto the field as quarterback Alex Smith delivered the ball to his playmakers with maximum efficiency. CB Josh Norman's 58 passes defensed since 2014 are fifth most in NFL.

Only one of those teams should feel good about a 1-1-1 record - and it's not either of the NFC North teams. "So the big thing is to stay focused, stay humble and move forward".

However, last week the roles were reversed and it was the Packers who couldn't make the most of a double-digit lead against the Vikings. Smith and Redskins have not been able to establish a downfield passing game thus far. The Packers traded for Antonio Morrison from the Colts to help with depth at inside linebacker after Burks went down. Through two weeks, the run defense has been significantly better, allowing just 86 yards per game.

Sloppy performance by the O. Half a game by the D. No excuses exist for the coaches or most of the players for the first half, but bad officials and rules just taking the whole game down on top of everything just leaves me with a sour taste. Left tackle Trent Williams is still dealing with soreness in his surgically repaired right knee, right guard Brandon Scherff injured his right knee against the Colts and left guard Shaun Lauvao could miss some time with a calf injury. It's tough. I felt like he was playing football. But we've got to play better.

"We had a great mix going", Smith said. Smith's favorite target was Jordan Reed, who grabbed four catches for 65 yards.

Green Bay and Washington last met in November 2016 when Cousins passed for 375 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-24 Redskins win at FedEx. Peterson punched in a two-yard gain from the goal line.

"Unfortunately, this league is going in a direction that a lot of people don't like and I think they're getting soft", the veteran said after Washington's 31-17 win over Green Bay. It didn't matter. The defense made crucial stops, outside a lengthy Packers scoring drive to open the half. They cleaned up their miscues in the second half and played well after intermission, but it was too little too late. We haven't been starting fast in games. The Packers receiver attempted to spin around and complete the play, but even though he got two hands on the ball, he couldn't finish the catch.
