Serena Williams vs Angelique Kerber, Wimbledon 2018 final

WIMBLEDON, England-After a remarkable run to the Wimbledon final, Serena Williams fell short to Angelique Kerber, one of the fastest-and most relentless-women in tennis.

But, back to her best on the grass at Wimbledon, she needed only 11 winners and one ace to deny an oddly nervous Serena, who contributed to her own downfall with a whopping 24 unforced errors, compared to only five from Kerber.

30-year-old Angelique Kerber has won her first Wimbledon title after defeating favourite Serena Williams in two straight sets.

"It's obviously disappointing but I can't be disappointed", Williams said. I felt really glad that I posted that.

Kerber addressed Williams during the on-court interviews, saying: "You're such an inspiration for everybody, for all of us".

Williams had quite a few twists and turns and this proved to be a tough year for the tennis star who seeded 25th in the tournament after her pregnancy hiatus. So I don't get to be with her the full day, but a pretty good chunk out of the day. - Kerber won the match 6-3, 6-3. Serena Williams, after making it to the Wimbledon final almost a year after giving birth, suffered a awful defeat, falling to rival Angelique Kerber!

"Honestly, I just feel like it was a necessary evil".

Now, looking out over the crowds from the Wimbledon champions' balcony, it is only the French Open that eludes the 30-year-old.

"This is not inevitable for me", Serena Williams said, alluding to the serious postpartum health problems she faced after giving birth.

There was no doubt in Kerber's mind, though, and she produced a series of superb points to break the Williams serve for the fourth time in the match and move 4-2 in front. Actually had nothing - actually, every match this tournament I didn't have a start time. Even though Williams came up short this time around, she'll certainly be back. When Serena Williams took the Wimbledon court, she did so in an unexpected fashion.

Serena, who had played well up until this point, did not play a clean and effective match in the final.

Also supporting Williams on Centre Court are golfer Tiger Woods, Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, and Vogue magazine editor Anna Wintour.

"I knew I had to play my best tennis against a champion like Serena", Kerber said.

That motivation was on display during the two weeks she played here.

For her most recent appearance, the stunning mum-to-be nailed the summer look in a gorgeous £680 floral maxi dress by Anna Mason, which she accessorised with summery espadrilles and a J Crew clutch bag.
