Asked about Trump's messages and the future of the G7 late Saturday during a photo op in La Malbaie, Trudeau declined to respond to several questions.
The United States and Canada swung sharply towards a diplomatic and trade crisis on Sunday as top White House advisers lashed out at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau a day after U.S. President Trump called him "very dishonest and weak".
Trump's decision to pull out of the communique was met with criticism by US politicians on both sides of the aisle. "All Justin Trudeau had to do was take the win".
Trump, who repeated that his tariffs are meant to protect US industry and workers from unfair global competition, told reporters he had suggested to the other G7 leaders that all trade barriers, including tariffs and subsidies, be eliminated.
"Prime Minister Trudeau may reap some political benefit through feuding with President Trump, but by engaging with the president on the terms he has so far, instead of on mutually productive ones, he is imperiling the economic well-being of millions of Canadians and Americans", he added.
President Donald Trump on Saturday said the United States will not endorse a G7 communique via a tweet that accused Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of making "false statements". "Ultimately that's what you want", Trump said.

"I think it would be an asset to have Russian Federation back in, I think it would be good for the world, I think it would be good for Russian Federation, I think it would be good for the United States, I think it would be good for all the countries of the current G7", he said.
"The president will continue to say what he says", he said of Trump. He also said the G7 group was bound together by shared values and beliefs. He said it won't take long to determine if Kim is serious about denuclearization.
