Kevin Durant: Only 'small details' left for next Warriors deal

Well, Sim Life fans, we are faced with the possibility that the final game of the season is upon us.

But the series is all but over. When the Warriors needed a shot late on with the Cavaliers closing in, Durant drained a three-pointer to extend the lead to 106-100 50 seconds left. They went on to win all eight.

The Cavs opened up strong, working to get Kevin Love, J.R. Smith and Tristan Thompson involved. Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and others echoed James' sentiment.

"He was telling me what he's going to order at our team dinner tonight, and I agree with his choices", Curry cracked.

But the competition isn't just a two-horse race. But Smith went 1-6 for the rest of the game, and LeBron James was just 1-6 from distance overall. Despite the stat-line, James was not at his best, and that has to be partly attributed to exhaustion. The best thing Cleveland can do for James and the franchise is to make a number of impactful moves like adding another all-star as well as better complimentary pieces accordingly.

For the second straight game the Warriors off-ball movement - such as their split screens, or the Warriors just slipping a screen - confused a Cavaliers defense that is trying to switch everything but is not defensively disciplined enough to do it.

Have a scroll through to look at their numbers.

Like James, Durant is expected to opt out of the final year of his contract and hit the free agent market in July. "He heads up the Cool As..." He was averaging 33.5 points, 10.8 boards and 7.3 assists in 21 career knockout games coming into the Eastern Conference Finals and averaged 40.5, 13.0 and 9.0 in the final two games against Boston.

On the night, the reigning Finals MVP went 15-of-23 from the floor, including 6-of-9 from beyond the arc and a ideal 7-of-7 from the line, adding 13 boards, seven assists and a steal in the victory.

Thompson was't much better, posting 10 points, four rebounds and two assists. Who knows who he'll be talking about after Game 4.

The Warriors, after all, were the biggest favorite going into an NBA Finals since the Lakers took on the Sixers in 2001.

Friday, June 8: Golden State at Cleveland, 9 p.m. There's that noticeable joy coach Steve Kerr so loves with his star-studded bunch. In Game 3, Durant's precision was too much to overcome.

Durant was 4-for-4 on 3-pointers 30 feet and out.

LeBron James was relaxed, reflective and even resigned to his fate. He drilled an isolation three just before halftime to cut the Warriors' deficit to six points. Sentiment alone could help his case.

With a 12.7 in metered market results, last night's exhilarating Game 3 of the 2018 NBA Finals dipped just 5% to be pretty steady from the comparable match-up of past year.

The Cavaliers have lost the first two games, but James' wardrobe didn't hurt his performance.

Injury Report: Andre Iguodala (knee) played in Game 3, despite suffering an injury to his other knee.

Durant was asked if he felt slighted by not being mentioned among the Finals MVP candidates in the first two games. That's what team presidents, GMs and certain players (want to do). He also entered the conversation for being the best player in the game.

The topper? Durant has now beaten James in 10 of the last 12 of their matchups. I didn't invite LeBron James, and I didn't invite Steph Curry.

If Durant has his way, LeBron won't have the option.

Warriors: Draymond Green passed Wilt Chamberlain (922) for the most rebounds in Warriors playoff history.

A sweep by the Warriors, or even Golden State winning in five games, might be all James needs to convince him that championship DNA isn't on the current Cavaliers roster. They play Game 4 in Cleveland on Friday.
