Here's The Time Period When Jon Favreau's 'Star Wars' Show Takes Place

"Solo: A Star Wars Story", which gets its US release on May 25, tells the coming-of-age tale of smuggler Han Solo before he was the galaxy's most adored scoundrel.

The first reactions to Solo: A Star Wars Story are in!

Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel's USA chatshow last night, he opened up on what Star Wars legend Williams told him.

Fans can livestream the event here. (Alan Tudyk's droid K-2SO was a similar surprise hit of Rogue One, so perhaps it's time we all stop underestimating Lucasfilm's robotic characters-which have progressed far beyond even the popular beeps and blustering protests of R2-D2 and C-3PO).

Yahoo Entertainment senior correspondent Kevin Polowy felt much the same, writing that Ehrenreich crushes it (in a good way!) as Han, but Waller-Bridge's L3-37 is a real scene-stealer. While critics have yet to publish more in-depth reviews, this behind-the-scenes shake-up didn't seem to register in the film.

"Solo: A Star Wars Story" is rated PG-13 and opens nationwide May 25.

Solo Premiere: How the Mysterious Star Wars Spinoff Played to Its First Audience

And the verdict? While some said it was clunky in parts, most loved it - describing the movie as fun, epic and "a blast".

Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in five "Star Wars" films, also attended the premiere, as did Billy Dee Williams, who portrayed Calrissian in "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi".

You have to be really devoted to Star Wars to do things like cosplay, or build your kid a cool Star Wars themed room.

It'll be interesting to see what form this series takes with its storytelling, we literally have no idea where they are coming at this from yet.

Putting fans" concerns to rest, Alden Ehrenreich's lead performance is being called "the real deal'.

The result? Solo: A Star Wars Story was beginning to feel like a rudderless ship, and it was only when Ron Howard climbed aboard that Lucasfilm's confidence in the project was restored. Gizmodo's Germain Lussier described it as "a non-stop adventure packed with way more emotion than you're expecting".
