Cristiano Ronaldo will be fit for Champions League final, says Zinedine Zidane

Many wonders why UEFA will appoint a more experienced referee in Bjorn Kuipers for the Europa League final and a seemingly controversy clouded Serbian centre man for a bigger game such as the Champions League final. He played on until halftime before he was replaced by Marco Asensio.

18 - Cristiano Ronaldo has equalled Alfredo Di Stefano as the all-time Real Madrid top-scorer in El Clasico in all competitions.

Despite their continued domestic dominance, PSG fell short in Europe once again, crashing out of the Champions League with a round of 16 loss to Real Madrid.

Cristiano Ronaldo suffered an ankle injury recently, weeks before a massive Champions League final with Liverpool.

After initially taking treatment, Ronaldo played on for 31 minutes here before Zidane made a decision to substitute him at half-time, which may at least offer Real encouragement.

Gareth Bale later salvaged a point for Real by equalising in the 72nd minute yet you could understand Real's players feeling frustrated about the result.

However, the Reds emphatically delivered on the big stage under Klopp, as they beat the German side 6-3 on aggregate to book their place in the group stages. Unlike Mazic, Europa League final ref, Bjorn Kuipers officiated Real Madrid's 1-2 semi-final win at Bayern Munich.

"It's not up to me to decide about the guard of honour but they didn't do it. My contract is only for a month and the only matches we have remaining are to be played in Seville (three at home, one at city rivals Real Betis) so there are no expenses".

It is still hoped Cristiano will be fit for the Champions League final, though, with Zidane having backed the 33-year-old to recover fully. They lost four and drew three of their previous seven games, dropping from fifth to eighth in the standings.

"If God wants, Neymar and I will play together at Real Madrid".

"He's a player we admire, not just any other player, and we all know how he is as a person", Zidane said.
