Davis' big game leads Pelicans to rout of Warriors

Both teams talked about the importance of getting off to a fast start, but only the Pelicans followed through on that.

After two relatively routine wins in Oakland, the Warriors were smashed by the Pelicans 119-100 on Friday night in New Orleans, behind a 33 point, 18 rebound performance by Anthony Davis. Anthony Davis is averaging 30.1 points and 12.9 rebounds while Jrue Holiday is averaging 23.9 points and 6.1 assists. Obviously he didn't make his shots, but more than that it was just about the energy, the legs. Our mindset is to go out there, play, and do what we're supposed to do from all the game planning. But it kills you all the same. Kevin Durant scored 22 points.

Mirotic's third 3 put the Pelicans up 60-48 late in the second quarter. Keeping the game in transition led to open looks from three in early offense. The trio of Davis, Nikola Mirotic and Jrue Holiday led the way with 70 combined points. We're competing. I don't think it's nothing more than us battling on the court.

Kerr said he didn't notice what Rondo did until looking at the play after the game, and he said that he sent video of the incident to the league office. It proves that they are more than capable of competing in this series.

AD ended the night with a monster stat line of 33 points and 18 rebounds. You see the guy making those passes in the above clip? This time, Rondo backed it up with 21 assists. Dude dropped 21 assists.

"I get nothing out of trying to bait Rondo into anything".

The reigning Defensive Player of the Year is adamant that he's not the one baiting.

"I wanted to do whatever was necessary for the team", Clark said. The Pelicans are hitting 78.2 percent at the line as a team so far. "They played really well". They better re-sign him. Only four points from the veteran point guard. They didn't even bring that, and either way, they were wrong.

Curry finished with 19 points on 19 attempts. It's not just that their shooters were off, although they were. They immediately closed his airspace on the catch. "You're going to be face-to-face with somebody". Holiday made life extremely hard for Durant, forcing him to take contested jumpers. The big thing for Golden State will be one of two things: either they can control the tempo and slow New Orleans' frenetic pace down a bit or they're going to have to shoot the ball better while getting some help from their bench group. I simply wasn't paying attention. "To me, those are the kind of players that I'd like to have on the team".

Everything was working for the Pelicans in this one and they're back in the series. That's another discussion for another day, I suppose. It backfired. There were plenty of reasons the Warriors lost to the Pelicans Friday, but McGee's ineffectiveness in almost 10 minutes of action was included on that list. Let's not go there.

That looked like the Pelicans who swept the Trail Blazers out of the playoffs. Each game is its own.

New Orleans' win is the swing in momentum it needed heading into Game 4 at the Smoothie King Center on Sunday.
