Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday

"Drug Take-Back Day is a common-sense initiative we can all rally around to combat drug abuse, so that WV can have strong, drug-free communities", Manchin expressed.

Delawareans can discard their expired or unused medications at 24 locations statewide between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. "Studies show that over half of abused prescription drugs are obtained - often unknowingly - from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet".

The growth in participation may be driven by the success of last October's Take Back Day, when law enforcement collected more than 900,000 pounds of unused prescription drugs.

For this event, FOX44 has teamed up with Integrated Pain Associates to help you dispose of your unwanted medications.

The Governor and Nashville's Police Chief teamed up to get the word out about National Drug Take Back Day. Get rid of them properly at the 15th National Prescription Drug Take-Back.

A listing of additional drop-off locations available for public use can be found on the Drug Enforcement Administration website.

Riverhead Town Police installed a permanent medication drop box in their headquarters lobby in August 2014. Overall, in its previous Take Back events, the DEA and its partners have taken in more than 9 million pounds-more than 4,500 tons-of pills nationwide.

"With opioid and prescription drug abuse, accidental poisonings and overdoses becoming all too common". These medications can be accidentally ingested by children, stolen, misused and abused.

"If you want to bring something up here and the doors are locked outside by the lobby, there's a phone right out by the lobby".

Due to hygiene and health concerns, liquids, needles and razers will not be accepted in the bin.
