VIVO IPL Rivalries: RCB vs DD at the Chinnaswamy

After three straight defeats, the most successful franchise in the history of Indian T20 cricket are in serious danger of missing the play-offs for what would be only the second time in nine seasons.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have perennially struggled with their bowling in the IPL. Virat and ABD have stacked unbelievable numbers at the Wankhede Stadium and if they produce something of a similar scale, Mumbai 's wait for their maiden win in the ongoing season will have to extend.

Four games into the season though, Bangalore are back to square one. After his dismissal Rohit, who flopped in the first three games, took over the lead role to hammer 94 in 52 balls before departing off the penultimate ball, caught at long on.

One of the many positive outcomes of the IPL was that it allowed domestic cricketers, who were not a part of the national team setup, to improve their game and prove their worth by virtue of their performance in the league.

"The only thing we did not do as a group in the last three games was sometimes (when) we batted well, we did not bowl well (and when) we bowled well, we did not bat well".

If Rohit takes his time to build innings, he had a partner who goes on the attack from ball one.

Both teams would be looking forward for a victory today where the win ratio is not very impressive for RCB and none for MI. Suryakumar Yadav, Evin Lewis and Ishan Kishan will hope to continue their good form from the last encounter against the Delhi Daredevils.

Since 2015 in the IPL, Virat Kohli has scored just 230 runs off 193 balls against left-arm pace, at a strike rate of 119.2. None of the batman apart from the skipper could score more than 20, thus limiting the run score by RCB to 167. They lost only four wickets in the match.

After starring last match, Umesh Yadav was sent crashing back to earth with a woeful 0/59 from four overs (14.75) while Kulwant Khejroliya has had a poor start to the tournament capturing just two wickets for 107 runs going at an economy of 10.2 runs per over.

Few could have foreseen such a formidable score from the hosts after they endured a miserable start. However, the score was so big and it was nearly not possible to chase.

Kohli said Mumbai showed great resilience after losing early wickets. De Villiers fell for 55 (33) but then Watson came in and scored a blazing 33 off just 19 deliveries.

And Rohit did that to play a typical Rohit innings, scoring 40 runs off his first 30 balls, before laying into the quick bowlers in the last six overs of the innings. He has some serious strategizing to do with regards to the composition of the squad and ensure they atleast compete well and arrest the slide of big defeats.
