Why Eugene's Big Walking Dead Finale Twist Happened, According To Scott Gimple

Spoiler alert! The following recap includes all the dirt from the season finale of The Walking Dead, Episode 416: "Wrath".

Negan wants nothing to do with Rick's pleas for Carl's final wishes and moves to kill Rick, who, then stabs Negan in the throat with a piece of stained glass that he retrieves from the one tree in the field, which just also happens to have two hanging stained glass frames dangling from two of the branches. He told them their enemy shouldn't be each other, but that giant horde of walkers headed their way. We can understand her wanting Negan dead, but along with Jesus's aforementioned humane actions, the third co-conspirator, Daryl, had also just let Dwight go. This makes Negan hesitate slightly, nearly appearing to break Negan emotionally, giving Rick just enough time to use a shard of broken class from the ground and swipe it across Negan's neck. "This is gonna get interesting", said one. Michonne holds Maggie back as she screams that they have to make it right and that the war isn't over until Negan is dead.

So, did Negan actually kill Rick and what we saw after that was Rick's stairway to Heaven? In a shocking move, however, Rick made a decision to spare the head Savior's life, so it's possible that the villain will cause more havoc in the future. Negan's hand gets injured, and he immediately knows that Eugene messed with the bullets. That was the night Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) were killed. Andrew Lincoln's Rick, Melissa McBride's Carol and Tom Payne's Jesus appeared in the beginning of the episode. (Cohan isn't signed for next season but AMC program chief David Madden last week said he expected "something positive to announce" soon.) "Rick was wrong to do what he did. Michonne too. So we're going to bide our time, wait for our moment, and then we're going to show him".

Instead, the show plays out in similar fashion to the comics, with Rick instructing Siddiq to save Negan's life, which he does despite the improbability of survival after losing so much blood. They planned to follow the map from Dwight but didn't exactly trust it either, and that is exactly what Negan was expecting from them. Not meaning to, that's just where it goes. We did not tell him. Rick is remembering that day Carl spoke of in his letter. But if you, like Maggie, wanted him dead, you're not going to be happy. "He'd be a great challenge for them, they wouldn't know what to do with him". The character is still very much around in the comics.

Fastest runner: Boy, Morgan really booked it to get to Texas and Fear the Walking Dead during the ending credits.

The end of the episode shows what working together in peace looks like: Rosita and Tara go to the Sanctuary to help put it back together, while Daryl decides to let Dwight live, telling him to leave and to never come back but giving him his life.

We'll continue Morgan's journey on "Fear the Walking Dead" here at TooFab, so stay tuned! Maggie sits at her desk and speaks to Jesus of building up their community, strengthening the foundation.

The actor fills us in on jumping from one zombie drama to the other.

I am pleased with the ending of season 8.

On Sunday, the official Walking Dead Twitter account shared a post teasing the crossover. The series tells the story of before the apocalypse, leading up to the world that we know now in the universe.
