Durant, Thompson sink Spurs, Miami scorch Sixers

It's going to be interesting to watch how the Sixers control Wade on the perimeter and in the paint along with Whiteside.

The match started well enough for them though as they lead 29-22 at the conclusion of the first quarter.

The Heat slowed the game down - exactly the kind of style where the Sixers needed Embiid in the middle - and used a collective of defenders on Ben Simmons that rattled the rookie point guard early.

"If it was my decision, I would play", Embiid said, "but I can't get back out on the court if I don't have the OK from them". Erik Spoelstra is one of the experienced coaches in the playoffs and knows what it takes to win a playoff series. Then there was a feed to James Johnson for a dunk and a lookaway pass to Goran Dragic, who was rejected moments earlier. Johnson made all seven of his shots.

The Sixers had not lost since a March 13 regular-season tilt against the Pacers. Wade may not have a lot left in the tank, but every once in a while he reminds everybody why he's a future Hall of Famer.

The Sixers must remain disciplined on the defensive side of the ball and continue to give max effort so that they can create turnovers and dominate in transition.

And there were some tough buckets. Wade finished the first half with 21 points and just hit everything.

Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors pulled off a second-half rally to see off the San Antonio Spurs 116-101 and double their playoff advantage.

That's when Wade stepped back with a jumper to put the Heat up 106-98, effectively ending it. He was a game-best plus-16. Nearly all of the 15-year veteran's plays were memorable, including the final bucket over rising star Ben Simmons, who tallied 24 points. Covington and J.J. Redick combined to shoot 2 of 16.

Ben Simmons looked flustered by Miami's defense at times but overall he had another fantastic performance.

Through the final eight games of the regular season without the big man in the lineup, the Sixers still led the National Basketball Association in rebounds (50.4), were 2nd in offensive rating (112.6), defensive rating (97.1) and net rating (15.5), while ranking 3rd in field-goal percentage (.498).

Sixers star center Joel Embiid caused a stir Monday night when he appeared to air his frustrations on Instagram.

The visitors continued to rally in the second quarter and had moved into a 53-47 at half-time.

"But in the second half we matched that effort level and physicality and were able to get that upper hand". Ilyasova scored 17 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. The Sixers could end this one in a hurry with Embiid back in the lineup. What Wade said was real, judging by the Heat's 113-103 victory over the Sixers, squaring their best-of-7 playoff series at 1-1.

"It's same old, same old", Brown said when asked about Embiid's status.

Game 3 of the series is set for 7pm Thursday in Miami (TNT).
