Boston Needs to Match Toronto's Intensity From the Start

Tonight in Boston, "Pasta" was cooking, and he was flawless.

Kadri's emotional split-second decision during the Maple Leafs' 5-1 Game 1 loss to the Boston Bruins on Saturday has resulted in a three-game suspension, meaning the Maple Leafs centreman will miss a crucial Game 2 in Boston, followed by Games 3 and 4 in Toronto.

The Bruins' fourth line outplayed the Leafs' fourth line all game on Thursday night, but now with the addition of Andreas Johnsson, the scales might tip into Toronto's favour.

Anyways, I don't think the Leafs are done. This did not last long.

With the Bruins' 40 shots on net to the Leafs' 27, the Bruins came onto the ice with a fire that was unanswered after the first period. He entered the contest on a 10-game point streak, as well as a four-game playoff point streak dating back to last season.

Backes snapped a 1-1 tie on the power play at 15:43 of the second when he chipped a loose puck up and over Andersen.

Toronto's Tyler Bozak would add a goal at the nine-minute mark of the period to again cut Boston's lead to three, 5-2. However, they failed to convert on those and saw Pastrnak score two more goals to complete the hat trick - his line had 14 points in Game 2 alone - to rub salt in the wound.

An interesting and ongoing storyline about the linesman of this series has developed. We don't think about the other team; we try to do our best and play simple and play pretty fast. This has been both unusual and annoying and both teams will be hoping the stripes smarten up in games three and four.

The Leafs lost Komarov for the night when he tried to hit Miller early in the second period and got the worst of it. Komarov skated slowly off the ice, went to the dressing room and then tried a brief comeback before retiring for the evening.

Once again, the Leafs had no idea how to deal with the Bergeron line. [VIDEO] But in my opinion, the Bruins need to look out for a few things from the Leafs, as well as focus on their strengths.

With Marchand and Pastrnak on Bergeron's wings, this line has immeasurable potential.

"We were outplayed for two games".

But the Bruins got that one back when Hainsey's pass through the neutral zone was intercepted by Krejci, who eventually went to the net to tip home Pastrnak's shot - just Boston's 10th of the game at that point - at 3:46 to stretch the lead to 5-1.

Five minutes into the game, the Bruins put a halt to the Leafs' little uprising when Kevin Miller drilled James van Riemsdyk into the boards on a Leaf dump-in.

Boston in their regular season series with Toronto had the edge in the shots column despite their 1-3 record against them and that trend continued in Game 1. Not to mention we didn't even make it past the first round, falling to the Ottawa Senators (boo!) in Game 6. Hampus Lindholm scored top shelf midway through the second to get the lead back down to one, but the Sharks fended off a push with John Gibson pulled in the waning seconds to leave Anaheim with two road wins and a 2-0 series lead. DeBrusk, rookie left-winger, comes in 7th for points on the team and has five game-winners. While the score may be higher than imagined, the Bruins are finally healthy. Sixteen people died and another 13 were injured when the team's bus collided with a truck last week in Saskatchewan.

Toronto now has the second-best power-play unit in the National Hockey League, as it's converted on 24.6 percent of its extra-man opportunities this year. It is very exciting to be a Bruins fan right now. I'll bet my degree in hagiography that he doesn't. They've talked about it and I imagine there will be more feeds over time.

"Yeah, we had some good looks in the first two games, but we can't stop there".
