Penguins rout Flyers in opener

Murray has endured a hard season both on and off the ice, but had a.923 save percentage in games against the Flyers.
The Flyers have a number of rookies and players making their playoff debut in the lineup for Game 1. The Flyers could use defenseman Robert Hagg's physicality. "It makes it easy to play with this group of guys", Kane said. Instead, those players who are on teams that didn't make it will be just like all of us, watching the playoffs from their couches. That means a first-time-this-year glimpse at the Winnipeg Jets and Patrik Laine; the Preds and/or Lightning every other night (Tampa is my second favorite team, BTW); and a chance to ignore some of the Eastern Conference teams that I've seen so often.
One of the questions they have to find answer for before Game 2 on Friday is a familiar one for anyone that has followed Flyers hockey for the better part of the past three decades: Just what in the heck are they going to do in goal? San Jose has been a playoff failure for so many years, but I think they've gotten past that label. Elliott stopped 14 of 19 shots before being replaced by Petr Mrazek. Hakstol declined to elaborate on his plans Thursday, though he's well aware Elliott's play was not Philadelphia's only issue. Instead of looking like a team that some considered one of the hottest in the National Hockey League to end the regular season after winning four of their final five games, the Flyers looked more like a team that should be watching the playoffs from home during their first meeting with the Penguins.
Brian Elliott has been pretty dependable all year, but he hasn't looked like himself in three starts since returning from a core muscle injury that sidelined the goalie for almost two months. Hakstol indicated after the game that he is leaning toward Elliott starting Game 2, although everything is always subject to change so keep an eye on any official information today.
"If somebody told me at the beginning of the year that the Knights game would be very comparable to the handle that we see for the National Football League games, I probably would have just died laughing". "They get opportunities. For us, it's a matter of limiting those chances and doing a good job of letting Brian see the puck".
Another loss would put Philadelphia in a perilous spot going home. In 28 appearances for the Ducks this season, Miller posted a.928 save percentage and 2.35 goals-against average along with a 12-6-0-6 (W-L-T-OT) record. Philadelphia's power play went 0 for 4 and didn't even generate a shot. He plays almost 27 minutes a night for the Wild, so good luck.
"Certainly, the expectation within our room is that we have the ability to compete", Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said. The bomb of a start against Pittsburgh leaves him with a 10.34 GAA and.737 SP now, but hey, it's one forgettable game. That partially explains how his Flyers went on a stunning run in February after slogging through a 10-game losing streak late in 2017. If the Jets can do it twice in three days, they'll have firm control against sloppy Minnesota.
Elliott stopped Kris Letang's slap shot with his blocker, but the long rebound went right to Rust, who ripped it over Elliott's right shoulder, giving the Pens the lead 2:38 in. They have their own postseason demons to exorcise. After Boston blew a 3-1 series lead, one of the craziest game sevens in postseason history took place.
"We've battled through a lot of adversity this year", MacDonald said. "But it was a pretty even game after that". Game 2 is Friday at PPG Paints Arena. "I thought it was a bad hit, but it's not for me to decide", Gallant said. Although not impossible, I don't think Fleury will be able to do it. If anyone uses the phrase "integrity of the game" in connection with the National Basketball Association after this season of tanking, open tryouts and resting players for no apparent reason, please slap them upside the head.
