Calgary trucking company suspended after Broncos crash

The death toll in Friday's collision that killed several members of the Humboldt Broncos hockey team has risen to 16.

This tragedy even goes beyond hockey lovers.

Tiffany and Harrison Prystay show their support on Jersey Day. "I'd tell them, 'I appreciate the call but you don't know me and you didn't know my kid'".

Metrolinx staff will also be wearing green ribbons if they don't have a jersey to wear.

Like Hamilton, Valley Wildcats general manager Nick Greenough has spent a lot of time reflecting on the countless hours he's logged on a bus as both a former high-level hockey player and coach.

The fund was set up to support the victims of a February 14, 2018 shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., which left 17 people dead.

Sixteen people died as a result of the highway crash involving the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team, while another 13 were injured.

But southern Ontario's Halton school board was among those to refrain from issuing a directive to staff, students or parents, saying "young, young children" might react differently to a sea of jerseys.

Darrin McKechnie, who coached Adam when he played midget hockey, said he was the kind of boy you would want your son to emulate and your daughter to bring home.

"It shows that we are strong not only as a community but as a country", she says. So did Canadian women's hockey Olympian Hayley Wickenheiser.

In a statement released over the weekend to Canadian outlet Global News, the family of defenseman Logan Boulet said six positive matches had been found for his organs, which were salvaged late Saturday night.

A high school student in Kamloops is doing her part to stand in solidarity with Humboldt, Sask. after the community's hockey team was involved in a deadly crash last week. Boulet had been accepted to attend the university this fall.

The Cougars will also send the photo to Hirsche's family.

"We travel on buses all the time and these guys, they're some of your best friends, you know, you consider them your brothers - it's your family - and just imagining that happening to your group of guys, it's heartbreaking", he said, becoming emotional.
