Bollywood actor Salman Khan granted bail in poaching case

Bhai, as he is popularly known, was accompanied by his father Salim Khan, mother Sushila Charak, Shera, other family members, sister Alvira and Arpita and a nephew.

On Thursday, Khan had been convicted in Jodhpur for killing two blackbucks in 1998, sentenced to five years in jail and fined 10,000 rupees.

Just a day ago, it was being reported that Salman Khan spent the night jail and even refused to have dinner. He was granted bail on a bond of Rs 50,000 and two sureties of the same amount.

Khan has been directed not to leave the country without the permission of the court. But on hearing that the actor had got bail, fans are now celebrating big time.

Khan pleaded not guilty and has long maintained his innocence as the case has languished in legal limbo over the years.

The five other co-accused - actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam, Sonali Bendre & businessman Dushyant Singh were acquitted by the court. Khan's lawyer HM Saraswat had filed a bail application in the court immediately after the sentencing, and on the same premises.

Bollywood star Salman Khan was granted bail by a court in Jodhpur district and sessions court at 3 pm on Saturday, April 7.

For years, the case has been faced with several delays, including efforts to dismiss parts of the charges.

The court has passed its order only after hearing 28 witnesses which included Bishnoi villagers who claim to have come out running of their huts on hearing the gunshots on 1 or 2 of October, 1998.

This was the actor's fourth stint in this prison. The heavily muscled actor was acquitted in two related cases.

A source said the 52-year-old actor, whose latest movie Race 3 is nearly complete and scheduled for release later this year, would return to work soon. "Welcome brother Salman Khan". Celebrities like Adnan Sami have also tweeted about their happiness that the actor has returned to the world.
