The Cardinals blew the game open with 11 runs in the bottom of the third. The Pirates added four more in the sixth, then held the Warriors scoreless for the 10-run, mercy rule victory.

Lafayette (11-8, 6-0) notched nine hits.

MABTON - The DW softball team traveled to Mabton on Saturday, and took two easy wins in double-header play, 20-2 and 19-1.

Senior Zack Budzik was 3-for-5 with an RBI on the day, while Caleb Bruce and Alex Scott both drove in a pair of runs for the Spartans.
