Boys track & field: relay Top 20 for Friday, April 6

Thursday's meet was a league cluster with Christian and Crawford, while Saturday's meet was the Mt. Carmel Invitational.

"Both teams finished the meet with strong team and individual finishes", Wadena-DC head coach Marc Reynolds said.

Teams competing with the Islanders include Norfolk, Papillion-LaVista, Lincoln High, Millard West and Lexington, while Fremont will only bring its girls team to the meet. The rookie also ran in the 100-meter hurdles at each of the meets, highlighted by a 10th-place finish at the Terrier Relays in 15.38 seconds, good for the 12th-best time in the league this season.

The final relay win came in the shuttle hurdle.

South Dearborn swept the 400, 1600 and 3200 relays plus went 1-2-3 in the 400 dash and long jump.

Kennedy Gravelle took home second place honors in the 800m run. "Pole vault is strong once again, as are our jumps and our throw events are starting to come together".

For Boggio and Steever, however, they learned the high jump entirely on the fly - not to mention that they are both also on the Hinsdale baseball team.

The Lady Wranglers' 4-by-800 relay team, which placed second at the ALA meet, also posted a provisional state qualifying time of 11:41 minutes - good enough now for 26th.

On the girls' side, the Pacers could see points from Sawyer Beauchamp, who qualified for states in the triple jump past year, Juliana Yialiades in mid-distance events and sophomore thrower Erica Girroir. Sprinting preliminary races and the 6,400 relay final also begin at 9, with the 3,200 relay kicking off the running event finals at 12:30 p.m. "When the Millers get competition, that's good for us". At Mt. Carmel she easily won her 800-meter heat with a time of 2:20.69. Brandon Oswald, Nathan Fatigate, Max Halvax and Josh Dowdy ran the four legs of the relay-two, 200-meter legs, a 400-meter and 800-meter. He remains at the top of the San Diego leaderboard for the 800.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Eidman, Scoville, Hinkson and Makenzie Higgs finished third, with a time of 4:31.12. He should be back to his old self pretty soon.

"She could go another 4 feet, if not more, in the shot and she could get in the 130s to 140 in the discus", Harmon said. Montreal took second place in the 55 hurdles, impressing the Tiger coaches by three-stepping all the hurdles.

Van Wyk was the 100 victor in a personal-best time of 11.04. "Taylor Wamego from Jackson Heights took second place with a throw of 40'1" and Issac Mulenga from Holton took 12 place with a throw of 24'5.25".

Essence McCloud took ninth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 19.53. "It's growth that comes directly from discipline, hard work and a tenacious desire to cross the finish line first".

Marble Falls High School's sophomore Jaden Johnson fights for third in the 1,600 meters against Boerne Champion's Molly Breuer and Dripping Springs's Izzie Guerrero. Albia finished third with 95, but a disqualification on a winning shuttle hurdle relay would have given the Blue Demons 107 points. "It's fun to see them on the first meet after practicing for three weeks, for them to put on the uniforms and see where people are at", Reisetter said. Warren snagged another first in the 200-meter dash with 23.26, with Hall and Winhawk Noah Schultz taking third and fourth.
