Aaron Hicks Placed on 10-Day DL; McKinney Recalled

Justin Smoak was on fire Sunday against the New York Yankees.

Centre fielder Kevin Pillar stole 25 bases for the Jays in 2015 but swiped 14 and 15 the following two seasons.

The Twitter reactions to this were pretty fun, too, with plenty of people blaming Boone for making a big mistake. He walked one, and the only damage against him came on Matt Chapman's three-run homer in the second. He will be expected to pick up the slack after getting a few more games under his belt, but the NY fan base would like to see more consistency out of him moving forward.

Other than those blasts, Toronto starter Marco Estrada pitched well in his first start of the season, going seven innings and giving up four hits, striking out two and walking three.

Tampa Bay arrives in NY after winning its opener against Boston and then losing three straight to the Red Sox. He will take the mound tonight in a stadium projected to be 7th in all of baseball for offense by ESPN MLB Park Factors in hopes of denying father times inevitable win for at least one more season in pinstripes.

Smoak went 3-for-4 with two home runs and six RBI in Sunday's victory over the Yankees.

Hicks seemed to have finally found his stroke in 2017, slashing.266/.372/.475 with an OPS+ of 122, however in just 88 games. They were the first runs Olson has allowed with Cleveland - past year he threw 20 scoreless innings in 30 appearances for the Indians. McKinney torched his way through big league spring training, tying for the team lead with five home runs and 13 RBIs.

Additionally, reliever Adam Warren was hit by a come-backer on his right ankle, and also exited the game in the sixth inning. DeJong hit his second solo homer in the eighth against Jacob Rhame. Donaldson had reached on a double to left for his first hit, snapping an 0 for 7 start to the year.

New York's advance ticket sales for the season are up about 650,000 from previous year.

Tanaka retired Solarte on a grounder to start the bottom half but grooved a first-pitch fastball to Grichuk, who crushed it to left for a homer that tied it at 1.

Since then, however, the Yanks' locked-and-loaded bullpen has spectacularly flushed the next two to even their record at 2-2.

NOTES: Pillar is the first Blue Jays player to steal three bases in one inning.

Pillar is the first big league to steal three bases in an inning since San Diego's Wil Myers did it last August 16.

Aaron Boone noted it has been just four games and that small samples are magnified this time of year because all that is available are small samples.

Blue Jays: Donaldson (dead arm) made his third straight start at DH instead of 3B.
