Cubs hit home run on first pitch of Major League Baseball season

A pair of former Wilmington high school standout helped lead the Boston Red Sox past the Chicago Cubs 4-2 at JetBlue Park in Lee County, Fla on Tuesday. It is also the first time all teams are scheduled to play on Opening Day since 1968. "I think it will be - I feel we will be alright". Urena pitched well against the Cubs last season, limiting them to only three runs in 11 innings, and he has only allowed a total of six runs in 17 career innings against Chicago. It wasn't a great outing by Lester, but he kept the team in the game. [Steve] Cishek got the game right, and everybody that followed pitched extremely well, too.

The Marlins went 3-4 SU against the Cubs last season. Then Javier Baez got hit by a pitch, the third plunking of the inning by Urena.

The Cubs' bullpen managed an ERA of 1.04 against the Marlins a year ago.

"That was exciting", he said. "It's just unbelievable how an entire nation is rallying around Stoneman Douglas High School".

"Someday it's going to happen to me", Castro told the Chicago Sun-Times when asked about the World Series near misses. Four families connected to the shooting will throw out a first pitch, and Rizzo also invited the Douglas baseball team to the game.

"I just wanted to toast Mr. Coppola", Maddon said after his postgame media briefing, "and the best movie of all-time, The Godfather". "I didn't even have a second to have the ball to hang in the air for my breath to hold". There's really no excuse for it.

Castro's sad story has nothing on what Marlins fans have had to endure for years.

"When I point to the sky it's more of a personal moment", he said. "I was able to hit the home run there, and it felt good".

The bullpen shut it down the rest of the way, thanks to scoreless frames from Brian Duensing, Pedro Strop, Justin Wilson, and Mike Montgomery. There were many Cubs fans in the crowd of 32,151, but nearly everybody in attendance saluted Rizzo.
