After teasing for more than a month, Xiaomi, at an event in Shanghai today announced its first flagship smartphone in 2018, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S. With 9.9mm thin bezels, the Mi Gaming Laptop offers 81% screen-to-body ratio.
You have to turn the Mi Mix 2s around to spot the most major upgrade over the Mix 2 - a pair of OIS-enabled 12MP cameras, positioned in the top left corner. It comes with 6GB LPDDR4x RAM with 64GB/128GB of internal storage and 8GB LPDDR4x RAM with 256GB of internal storage. Xiaomi has even developed a proprietary memory capacity of 7.5 watt cost $ 16.
Finally, after a truckload of leaks and rumors the Mi Mix 2s is here in all its glory. Well, this makes the Mi MIX 2S the first Xiaomi smartphone that runs Android Oreo out of the box. It has a screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 with a pixel density of 403 PPI. It's driven by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 SoC alongside Adreno 630 graphics and can be configured with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of local storage. All the variants will come with a microSD card slot and will be running on Android 8.0 alongside MIUI 9.5.
Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s comes with a bezel-less display, but the company has not opted for the controversial "notch" on this one. Also, it is the only phone to boast of a secondary telephoto lens at this price.
The handset features the vertically placed rear dual camera setup like the iPhone X but the handset doesn't have a notch at top of the display. The device is made of Ceramic and Metal frames, having a dual-camera setup on the rear panel. The rest of the specifications also include 2x2 MIMO 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, all the usual sensors, and a 3,400mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support. The same is likely to be said about the Mi Mix 2S, short of going through retailers such as GearBest.
The next big change is in the camera department.
Also, the company is also working on the AI features in the camera app, giving users such capabilities as "dynamic Bokeh" and scene recognition.
Mi MIX 2S can shoot Full HD (1080p) videos at 60 fps and HD (720p) videos at 120 fps. Using wireless charging, the phone can be fully recharged in 2 hours 40 minutes.
The Mi Mix 2s will be available in three variants and two colours.
The top-spec model will also come with a free Xiaomi wireless charger (worth RMB99).
