NCAA Tournament: Top coaches still dancing entering Sweet Sixteen

You have no idea who is going to win this thing, do you?

March Madness continues to do its best to make sure no flawless brackets exist, and that college basketball is a must-watch this time of the year. "A game that will require us to play a lot better than we did this past weekend".

The next time Kentucky plays a basketball game, its opponent will either be a foe United Kingdom has faced in past NCAA Tournaments - or the architect of the greatest upset in 21st century American sports.

The Big 12 has placed two teams in the regional finals in five of the past 10 NCAA Championships (2008, '09, '10, '12, '16).

It seems like every other year in this upset-filled tournament there is a complete shocker hardly anyone could have predicted. Jim Boeheim won a play-in game and talked about how bad Syracuse's offense has been all year. However, the Tar Heels proved to be no match for the Aggies' size, as Texas A&M dominated the Heels 86-65.

West Virginia, and Carter in particular, look like they mean business with the way they played this opening weekend.

Complicating matters: This bracket is now so one-sided, if it had legs it would walk in circles.

"I said we want to get the big "W" up there and we did", Smith told the network's reporter. Syracuse managed to upset 6 seed TCU Friday and give up the 12th fewest points on average in the country (63.9). MI was seeded No. 3 in what was the easiest quarter of the bracket - until the University of Virginia and Arizona both decided they would rather return to their studies than play in any more games in a bothersome basketball tournament, leaving the South wide open. But those Cats got trounced, another one of the odd twists and improbable story lines that became the norm over the tournament's first weekend. Kentucky defeated No.12 Davidson and No.13 Buffalo in the first two rounds.

This year was no exception as Loyola Chicago's senior guard Donte Ingram hit a last-second three against Miami in the first round and Michigan's Jordan Poole drilled a shot from deep to eliminate Houston as time expired in the second round. And in the games at Boston, Villanova is a 5-point favorite over West Virginia and Purdue is a 1-1/2 point favorite over Texas Tech.

Looking for a trend? The four teams is tied with the ACC for most of any conference.

The title of First Four at least lets you know that this is something separate. I hope so, because I've got nothing. We will find out in the next two weekends. It's the happiest I've ever seen. The low point was probably when Michigan's Moritz Wagner was called for committing a personal foul with his chin. Announcers: Brian Anderson, Chris Webber, Lisa Byington Time TBD - Michigan/Texas A&M victor vs. Gonzaga vs. Florida State victor (West Regional Final/Los Angeles, Calif.), CBS.

The Wildcats had a role in all this, not taking down a top-four seed but playing a bit of a spoiler on Sunday, putting the kibosh on the Retrievers' feel-good story with a grueling 50-43 victory over UMBC.
