Conte blames Messi for Chelsea Champions League defeat

Lionel Messi of Barcelona celebrates after scoring his sides first goal during the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 First Leg match between Chelsea FC and FC Barcelona at Stamford Bridge on February 20, 2018 in London, United Kingdom. "Tonight they scored three times but I think we did not deserve this type of result".

Asked what were his words to the Argentine, Conte replied: "When you have the opportunity to make a great compliment to Messi, I think it's right".

"Players like Messi come along once every 50 years", Conte said after the game.

Hazard has contributed 15 goals to Chelsea's effort this season and finished his Champions League campaign with three strikes and four assists to his name.

"In the two games, Chelsea were by far the better team", Jacobs said.

Messi, who notched his 100th European goal in the game was seen being praised on the pitch by Conte following the game. We are talking about a fantastic player.

Messi was largely the driving force behind Barcelona's comprehensive 4-1 aggregate victory over the reigning English champions as they exited out of the competition.

He also set up Ousmane Dembele for his first goal for the Catalan club.

The first of his two goals arrived very early and sent the crowd into a frenzy.

Messi has frequently been linked with a big-money move to the Premier League but Conte is convinced the striker will retire at Barcelona.

"I have to admit they have been a great rival, a great team".

It also caps a momentous five days for the 30-year-old Argentinian, who sat out Saturday's LaLiga win over Malaga to attend to the birth of his third child.

The double took Messi to 100 Champions League goals while his opener, coming after 129 seconds, was the fastest goal of his illustrious career. "I can't wait for him to go".

"For a goalkeeper like me from two metres, it's my weakest point between my legs".

Iniesta has been linked with Tianjin Quanjian, although the Chinese Super League club declared the rumours "false" this week and threatened legal action to stamp them out.

The game couldn't have started on a worse note for Chelsea as they found themselves down quickly.

Andres Iniesta says he will make a decision on whether to stay at Barcelona or move to China by the end of April.

Manchester City and Liverpool will discover their Champions League quarter-final opponents on Friday.
