COUSINS BIDS FAREWELL TO WASHINGTON: Kirk Cousins posted a blog on his website Monday afternoon, telling fans, "As I'm about to make one of the bigger decisions of my life, I'll be saying goodbye to my familiar life as a Redskin". The 2012 fourth round pick finished past year 347-540 for 4,093 yards and 27 touchdowns to 13 interceptions.
The Cardinals are looking to make Kirk Cousins one of the highest paid quarterbacks in the league.
Although often maligned by the talking heads on TV, Keenum's two seasons as the part-time starter for a really bad St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams team were better than advertised.
Was Kirk Cousins sending the Jets a message? However, Cousins is going to take his time and visit his suitors, a process Denver apparently didn't want to endure. Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater also will become unrestricted free agents Wednesday, and while either could still re-sign with Minnesota, it appears the Vikings have found their new starting QB in Cousins.
"There was no doubt in our minds, I think both myself and the Saints, that we were gonna get a deal done", Brees said.
Despite the hefty price tag that comes with landing the league's top free agent, Minnesota has a chance to finally land a franchise quarterback. Case Keenum, who previously played for Gary Kubiak in Houston, is No. 2 on many teams' lists.
The former Pro Bowler will likely face pressure from fellow players to take the guarenteed money on offer, as the move would dramatically alter the future of free agency for elite players and quarterbacks in particular.
But none of the last 12, first-round quarterbacks of the previous five drafts reached the playoffs in year one.
I asked Gold Medalist and Golden Gopher Kelly Pannek of Plymouth if she had ever seen the wicked game-winning move that Jocelyn Lamoureux-Davidson pulled-off in the shootout of the gold medal game against Canada.
Free agency is always a fun time in a player's career, as they get to choose where they get to play out the next years of their career.
