Tiger Woods draws big crowds to Valspar Championship

Woods shot a 70 on Thursday, a 68 on Friday, a 67 on Saturday and a 70 in the final round.

The former world No 1 had to settle for a share of second place at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort, posting a one-under 70 on Sunday to finish one short of victor Paul Casey. It wasn't until a stumble at 12 that Burns started to fall.

Woods' odds to win the Masters, as adjusted by Westgate Las Vegas Superbook, dropped twice on Friday on the strength of his performance, first from 16-1 to 12-1 and then to 10-1 - behind only world number one Dustin Johnson and PGA Championship victor Justin Thomas, both priced at 8-1.

Woods dropped in the putt for his first birdie since the opening hole of the day to keep his tournament hopes alive. Woods is paired with Snedeker in the 1:50 p.m. ET twosome, with Connors and Rose in the final group at 2 p.m.

The 26-year-old Conners was only an alternate for the tournament at the start of the week. It's been a struggle over the last few years for Woods to get back into the form everyone is used to seeing him in, but it looks like it has finally happened.

I didn't think about it too much today. I've won my share of events here and overseas and so I like to be one back or near the lead. I've been here before. I'm still not totally sure Reed didn't think the masses were there to watch him try and burn down this course (which he almost did). He was five months removed from back fusion surgery and had not been cleared by his doctors to make full swings. "At least I'm there with a chance going into the weekend". Even Snedeker had a huge grin on his face when the ball vanished into the cup.

"I'm excited, " Woods said.

The former Southern Cal player struggled on the Web.com Tour previous year, making one cut in seven starts. "I haven't got to know some of these guys and Corey is one of them".

It can be tough to deal with for tournament employees and fellow competitors. He chose to hit putter, but his putt wasn't hit hard enough and it rolled back down the hill to his feet. Woods - wearing his token red shirt and black trousers - used a 6-iron off of the tee to find the green. Wallace went for the green in two on the playoff hole, the 18th, needing only 20 feet for an eagle.

"Ti-Ger! Ti-Ger! Ti-Ger!"

Paul Casey took his first PGA Tour win since 2011.

Patrick Reed (T2): What a day for golfers wearing red and black on Sunday.

He said: "I was living from minute to minute". "It's fun to hear the crowd going insane again and realize how excited we are in having him back out here and play the way he is".
