How to turn Google Maps into Mario Kart for a week

According to the Verge, you can activate the 1-UP noise by tapping the question mark box 100 times. There's also Mario Tennis Aces which sounds like Wii tennis but better and will be available over multiple consoles.

Google Maps and Nintendo announced a temporary, opt-in feature that allows users to "navigate the world as Mario".

Google is encouraging users to take a screenshot of Mario inside Maps and share it on social media with the hashtag #MarioMaps.

It appears that the Mario Day Easter egg has already begun to roll out to everyone, so expect to see it on your app soon.

The updated Google Maps has rolling out to Android and iOS platforms starting from today itself. The search giant has joined their hands with Nintendo ahead of Mario Day, March 10 (aka Mar10). So make the most of it while you can. Instead, Google's little arrow will be replaced with Mario, who will give you a little emotional boost as you drive to your destination. Click "Let's-A-Go!" and your cursor will change. He'll be a constant companion wherever you're driving this week. Mario Day is an exciting day for fans, and this year a special treat is in tow. Because Google Maps will be transforming into a real-life (though much safer) version of Mario Kart, because they're going to let Super Mario guide us on our way.

In the meantime, Google Maps and Mario will be here all week in celebration of Mario Kart, with the plumber fist-pumping his way through traffic. Well, you can do so immediately.
