Celebrating International Women's Day Locally

Over the past year, women from all walks of life rose up in protests, power building and advocacy over issues of equality and harassment.
According to the World Economic Forum, equality right now is actually in retreat, and it will take another century for both genders to stand on equal footing. The day also saw several women calling out for more gender parity.
Researchers examined areas like economic opportunity, education, health and political empowerment. The three-year project, announced by Minister of the Status of Women, Maryam Monsef will be led by Global Compact Network Canada, an arm of the United Nations.
Over the past year, my Administration has championed the creation of global initiatives to promote women's economic empowerment.

As many as 15 million girls each year become child brides, destroying childhoods, killing freedoms and blocking opportunities.
