4 takeaways from the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine for the Rams

The entire National Football League world is in Indianapolis for the scouting combine.

Before last year's draft the best quarterback prospect was Sam Darnold. It might be those interactions that determine which quarterback each team likes more than the others. After this past weekend, the Rams have even more on their plate when it comes to evaluating certain players worth considering in next month's draft. Kirk is a high-character guy and a polished route runner who can make things happen after the catch. He also put up 20 reps on the bench press, which tied for 11th.

The outstanding performance doesn't do much to wipe away the biggest concern with Gesicki: his ability as a blocker. Not a prototypical cover corner, however, he could transition to safety at the next level.

They have some young talent on defense. After the Combine, here's a look at five players who should be on the team's radar if they weren't already. He can swing his hips and change direction nearly like a defensive back.

When people ask me why I watch the draft or follow the combine I have no answer.

Three-cone drill: 6.48 seconds by cornerback Carlos Rogers (Auburn) in 2005. Quandre Diggs can play nickel or strong safety now due to his physicality, but he ran just a 4.56-second 40 in 2013.

One of those prospects, IMG Academy' running back Noah Cain, will be on display in the state of Pennsylvania during Week Zero of the high school season when IMG travels to play state power and defending Class 6A champion Pine-Richland.

The big question scouts had about McFadden's game was the noticeable absence of long speed.

Lauletta showed off his athleticism and threw well during the workout portion of the Combine.

Prior to the Scouting Combine, most draft analysts rated Brown as one of the best at his position and a first-round pick.

The former Oklahoma Sooners star had one of the worst showings of all-time for a top prospect. "You see guys like Tyrod Taylor, (Drew) Brees, Russell Wilson, they've proven that it doesn't matter".

"First things first, they'd get a victor". Marcus Smith II is among the less successful ones. "Just another pass rusher to get after the offense". The combine can't answer for that, but freed from the problems of the Gators, Bryan's future seems set. Expect that to continue, especially if Beau Allen and potentially even Vinny Curry part ways with the club. Assuming they sign McCarron, that position is filled.

Delaney (4.82) helped his stock by running a 4.46 in the 40, a respectable time among defensive backs. It was the fastest time by a linebacker since 2003.

Broad jump: 135 inches by wide receiver Julio Jones (Foley, Alabama) in 2011.

In addition to his developed pass-blocking upside, Barkley has grown to become one of the most proficient route runners and catchers in recent college football seasons. Chubb is a special player who has the potential to be a perennial Pro Bowler. It is possible they draft Josh Allen at one, and hope Barkley falls to four (he won't).
