Last night, the United States Women's Hockey team pulled off a comeback for the ages on 38th the anniversary of the legendary Miracle on Ice.
Jocelyne and her sister, Monique were members of the past two U.S. Women's Olympic Teams that took home silver medals in 2010 and 2014. "I'm not a shootout guy".
"My actions did not demonstrate the values our team, myself and my family and for that I am truly sorry", the Team Canada defenceman said in a statement released Friday afternoon (Korea time). Just like their rivalry, it was an intense game till the final shootout.
Shootouts are very bad. It's a terrible way to decide something as important as an Olympic championship. "It would be absolutely ridiculous", said Stamkos.
The "Rejects" went on to win the US Championship again in 2017, finished second in 2016, and won the US Curling Trials in 2017 to qualify for Pyeongchang.
It was the second time in the day that the Americans beat the Canadians in one of their national sports. There are 10 ends in a match.
"I can't put it into words", American defenseman Kacey Bellamy said.
Team USA, thus far, has nine gold medals, eight silver medals and six bronze medals, for a total of 23 medals.
"Maybe in round robin, but in the final it should be continuous overtime, in my opinion".
The Americans took a 1-0 lead in PyeongChang but lost their way as Canada went up 2-1.
"We had all the drama and everything", she said.
Henrik Lundqvist knows about shootouts.
In an all-time game late Wednesday night, the US and Canada fought valiantly from the moment the puck was dropped.
"It is hard. You feel as though you have let your country down, but you look at it in a bigger picture". I understand that's tough. "I think it's a life-altering game for us, to do what we did on this stage today".
"When you get a hard-working special person like that, they help you become a better coach. It is just so competitive at this time that you know it's not really shocking that they're improving".
However, Rangers forward Mika Zibanejad finds shootouts gripping.
"It's one on one", he said. "It's a lot of pressure to step up like that in a gold medal game".
"It's who has the nerve and who doesn't". "Instead of just shaking hands, it was one of those moves that you're trying to give the crowd, all the disappointment we felt, give them a little something back". "Maybe not everyone's made to do it". The 5-3 semifinal victory at Gangneung Curling Centre sent the Americans to Saturday's championship game against Sweden, the first time the usa will play for Olympic gold in curling.
The most thrilling of them all came in Team USA hockey's 3-2 shootout win over archrival Canada for the gold, its first since winning it all in the sport's inaugural Olympics in 1998.
"That was really nice". Anyone that's been watching the Grand Slams of Curling, we've got European teams winning all the time.
