Winter Olympics: Figure skating holds big finale

China finished 0.064 seconds behind for silver and Canada took bronze.

After being brushed off as just another competitor in these Olympics, this South Korea team is now on to a curling semifinal, and possibly history.

Lindsey Vonn made a mistake early in the slalom and didn't finish in what was likely the final race of her Winter Games career. With Wednesday's bronze, coming after short track skater John-Henry Krueger's silver in the 1,000-meter race on Saturday, hopes have grown for US success at these games.

Still, "the biggest challenge is lack of depth in the talent pool", says Quinn.

To date, the most successful recruitment of USA speedskating talent has been among inline skaters.

The American team includes brothers Bryan Fletcher and Taylor Fletcher.

But there's starting to be a deficit in that talent pool, too.
