Wenger gives update on Mesut Ozil ahead of Man City clash

Henrikh Mkhitaryan claims that he is becoming a better footballer by playing and training alongside Arsenal team-mate Mesut Ozil.

Soon enough Wenger will have to do the same if he wants this Arsenal season to end with something approaching glory in Lyon on May 16, and a passage into the 2018-19 Champions League. Last season, the team finished fifth in the league, 14 points adrift champions Malmo.

Not many of Arsenal's midfield regulars are likely to feature as the Gunners prepare for the EFL Cup final.

"I think this competition has allowed them to gain confidence, to show the other players in the squad that these boys have the needed quality and can put them under threat".

Arsene Wenger says his priority remains a top-four Premier League finish and he is not ready to follow Jose Mourinho in switching focus to the Europa League.

While Ospina's place at Wembley is confirmed, Wenger will still be sweating over the fitness of Aaron Ramsey. Ostersunds have only just returned to competitive action after their winter break, and their limitations were brutally exposed last week. Striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is ineligible, Alex Lacazette is injured, so Danny Welbeck may once again spearhead the attack.

Ostersunds is expected to field the same side as in the first leg in Sweden.

Mkhitaryan has already offered glimpses of what he can bring to the Arsenal side, with three assists in a Premier League meeting with Everton having been followed by another in a Europa League clash with Ostersunds. "I'm just enjoying playing with Mesut and he's an awesome football player". He has played predominantly as a left wing-back, but his favoured position is in central midfield.

"The results of Ostersunds in the Europa League are quite impressive, home and away, so that demands respect".

Cech has conceded 1.34 goals per 90 minutes in the Premier League, while Ospina has conceded 0.80 per 90 in the Europa League.

The game began with Arsenal coming out of the blocks much quicker than their hosts. At the Emirates, they have home comfort, mainly due to their form there this season.
