Monson was asked to play general manager and select who he believes is the best quarterback in the National Football League draft with the top pick - and with no hesitation, Monson had his man.
Myles Garrett, Christian McCaffrey and Dalvin Cook were all among those who did not attend last year's draft, and Garrett went No. 1 overall to the Cleveland Browns, while McCaffrey went No. 8 overall to the Carolina Panthers.
Mayfield is the third quarterback taken in this mock draft behind Wyoming's Josh Allen and USC's Sam Darnold, who Kiper has going No. 1 and No. 5, respectively. Denver won't be the only team making their case for Kirk Cousins, but the idea of pairing Nelson and last year's first-round selection Garrett Bolles on the left side would be awfully enticing for any free agent quarterback. Kiper has Rosen going 11th to the Dolphins.
"Not only is Smith stout in pass coverage and playing the run, but he also led the Bulldogs with 6.5 sacks in 2017". He's projected to go at No. 16 overall to the Baltimore Ravens.
The missing piece for former Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford? But for now, Kiper is sticking with his conviction that Allen will be the man for the Browns. I just went with the gut that Baker Mayfield with the Jets - it made sense.
To solidify the defensive backfield, Kadar has the Browns trading into the bottom of the first round, sending No. 33 overall and a fourth-round pick to the Jaguars for the No. 29 pick, which they use to select Auburn cornerback Carlton Davis.
Mel Kiper is one of the biggest names in the draft. "I really like this pick for the Cowboys", Kiper wrote. "But I just think after all is said and done, not having the kind of year expected will hurt him a little bit in the evaluation process".
Sure, the face of the draft for ESPN has been wildly wrong on some projections in the past, but this one isn't outlandish on the face of things. The Bills desperately need a quarterback and Rosen dropping to five gives them a real option. You might also remember Brown was the player who got an official's yellow flag to the eye.
Buffalo should do everything they can to ensure that they end up with Rosen on draft day.
John Dorsey will certainly be taking that into account when considering the four guys previously mentioned.
