Oklahoma City nearly pulled off a miraculous comeback win but fell short, going down 127-124. Brogdon was injured during a non-contact sequence during Thursday's game while driving for a layup.
A frustrated and bemused Westbrook moved him aside and explained afterwards that he acted out of concern for his own well-being, per ESPN's Royce Young. Adams had 23 points and 12 rebounds for the Thunder, who lost their third straight after an eight-game winning streak. But today, it's Russell Westbrook's emotions.
"You gotta be able to protect the players, man", Westbrook said afterward, per ESPN. Chandler's screen on Jerami Grant sent him to the floor.
"It was a hard turnaround, I'm not going to dispute that", Thunder coach Billy Donovan said.
This isn't the first time Westbrook has gotten into a dispute with a fan during an National Basketball Association game. The league deemed that Jokic shuffled his feet but did not leave the designated throw-in spot. I shot the ball, but I looked down at the same time. "Harris just raised up".
The NBA reviewed the incident but ultimately decided against punishment for Westbrook, as there was no aggression or engagement from the reigning MVP toward the fan. They held a 104-89 lead into the fourth quarter. Westbrook had 21 assists, one shy of his career high, to go with 20 points and nine rebounds. The Thunder led by four at the break but the OK3 shot 7/29 (24.1 percent) after halftime. Nor was George. The Pelicans loom on the second night of a back-to-back. "This is how Denver plays". Despite losing two in a row, they are just three games out of the third spot out west.
"I thought we approached the game correctly right from the start". I thought we maintained our poise throughout, even in the first quarter when (the Thunder) made their run and in the second quarter when they got a little separation.
