Reds manager Jurgen Klopp acknowledged his side were guilty of making mistakes for each of West Bromwich Albion's goals in the visitors' 3-2 cup win at Anfield that ended Liverpool's lengthy unbeaten home run.
"This was one of the reasons why we celebrated like we did when we won the Wembley [promotion playoff] final, because we would be able to host such opponents in front of the cameras". It was about different stuff, different things.
"We could have done better, but we scored the first goal, we maybe gave one situation away, but it was hard for Huddersfield to counter-attack".
"It's a completely normal - they've played longer together than Virgil has played with them", Klopp told a post-match news conference.
"It was exactly what we needed".
"These boys, we know potential-wise are world class".
"I watched Liverpool go out of the FA Cup on Saturday, following on from their defeat at Swansea, in a lacklustre manner - with defending that is still leaving many, Klopp included, scratching their heads".
"This is for sure we should not get carried away too far after this period where we didn't get the results we wanted to have".
"For us nothing has really changed".
"Unfortunately, in the moment Phil left, Adam [Lallana] got a little injury again".
It seems unlikely Liverpool will make a move in the final days of the transfer window despite the England global back on the sidelines.
David Wagner's side have now lost four Premier League games in-a-row, and it has been 52 days since their last victory, with nine showings without a win during this period.
It was actually Huddersfield who created the first meaningful chance of the game around the 15 minute mark. Nothing else to say about that.
"You have to have more luck than we have", he said. You think that's right, that wrong, you say it, nobody listens. Liverpool is the biggest favorites of the slate according to Vegas and is expected to dictate the play of the match.
