Jets lineman ends tragic week with the game of his life

There was nothing easy about Kony Ealy's interception, but it was certainly one of the most remarkable plays of the game.

That's what the Jets did on Sunday in ta 23-20 overtime win over the Jaguars.

Up: The Jaguars accumulating 167 yards offense and 10 points on their first three drives. If they slip down to 1-3 then you'd have to say their season would be looking like it is slipping away from them already after just a month gone. "When it's overtime, a lot of times it's about the kickers".

McGuire and Powell also combined for 55 receiving yards, pushing their total yards from scrimmage over 300. And the most surprising thing of all was an unsportsmanlike conduct call on the usually impeccable Paul Posluszny. But he found a hole in the middle, and ran for a 69-yard touchdown to put the Jets up 17-10. "That's what you want". "It was killing me sitting on the sideline".

The biggest mistake may have been with 3:19 remaining in the game when, on a third down, the Jets opted to pass the ball and McCown was intercepted. Leonard Fournette is a special player, but it's hard to go very far with an offense that's one-dimensional. But if they continue to control the ball and play good defense, the Jets will be competitive. Since there were 22 seconds left, it seemed like NY was going to boot it down the field and get into the locker room with the score deadlocked.

"We needed a turnover, period", Ealy said. Bilal Powell is always an interesting play, but when he's splitting snaps with two other running backs he isn't a safe option. He finished today's game against the Jets with eight tackles and one assist. Powell got up and ran 75 yards for a touchdown. Powell had 21 carries for 163 yards and a score.

The 75-yard burst for Powell wasn't the only huge chunk of yardage given up by the usually stout Jaguars defense.

Down: Converting only 4 of 15 third downs, continuing a season-long trend that has seen the Jaguars move the chains on only 16 of 52 third-down situations. "We just expected it and practiced for it during the week". The seven-year veteran, whose previous long rush was 39 yards in 2013, scored for the second straight week. The lineman batted the quarterback's pass in the air and then caught the ball deep in Jacksonville territory. "I probably shouldn't have said anything".

The Jets visit the winless Browns next week before welcoming the Patriots to town.

After the scores from both teams, the Jaguars and the Jets settled into a defensive showcase.

To be honest, Jermaine, it's quite surprising.

NOTES: Jaguars RG A.J. Cann injured his finger in the first quarter. Give credit to offensive coordinator John Morton for his play calling. The next day, the Jets claimed him off waivers. The Jets are a.500 team, and victors of two in a row.
