Apple admits LTE issues in Watch Series 3, investigating a fix

Can it really offer me anything new that my current model can't? "Poor Dick, he upgraded to the cellular version of the Apple Watch Series 3". Furthermore, same like with Goode's phone, the problem persisted on several more devices and connected to unknown and unprotected Wi-Fi networks, although without the full connection.

The reason this is more bug than feature, however, is the that watch can't do both at the same time, so if it spots a familiar WiFi network, the LTE calling is dropped. It's also isolated enough that Apple clearly has no plans to change the Apple Watch Series 3 roll-out this Friday.

Phone calls and iMessage chats work on the watch even if your phone is off, as do turn-by-turn maps and queries to the Siri voice assistant. The only benefit I see is streaming music during runs. And I'm going to keep wearing it. "I made a half-hour call to my mom as I walked into town a half mile away to get an iced coffee". You need a data add-on from the same wireless provider as your phone. "This is the first generation watch with LTE", he told Reuters. "They didn't exactly make a decision to come". Still, he thinks it's no replacement for a phone and found himself longing for the ability to go back to his iPhone. It seems like you could just save yourself the money and use the phone you already pay for as your phone. Stern also said there were problems with Series 3's battery life. For day-to-day, in the Activity app, you'll now find a "Flights Climbed" section. I even left my wallet at home.

It can be handy to untether the watch at times, but it's not always necessary. I downloaded an update on my phone and updated the watch overnight. With my first Apple Watch, I could brew a cup of coffee while waiting for the pairing and installation of all the apps to complete, which takes over an hour. So, say, you run to your gym to lift weights. But if it appeals to you, the Apple Watch Series 3 is the way to go.

A key question on the minds of many investors is whether the new iPhone models to be launched in 2018 will support Touch ID (fingerprint recognition). Apple's solution is far more elegant, handing off calls to your wrist whenever the phone is out of range.

And if your heart rate is high without any signs of exercise, you'll get an alert. Everyone's normal is different, and if you're ever concerned about what's normal for you, talk with your doctor.

But Apple on Thursday acknowledged that this centrepiece feature is not working as intended.

OK, so I admittedly haven't used this yet. So if you drive to work at 7am, it'll show the latest traffic from Apple Maps. It'll combine metrics from the machine-like speed, distance, incline, and resistance-with your personal metrics-like heart rate-to give you a more accurate, 360-degree view of your workout. The Series 3 now has a faster S3 dual-core processor, said to be 70 per cent faster than its predecessor, and thus enables Apple's voice assistant Siri to speak instead of giving text responses.

At the September event, chief executive Tim Cook said the Apple Watch was the number one smart watch in the world in terms of revenue, with an industry-leading customer satisfaction rating of 97 per cent. And outside the USA, only a handful of carriers are supporting the cellular watch.
