Mike Zimmer says 6-week Sam Bradford timeline was said in jest

Bradford's knee took a beating on a few plays against the Saints, the injury is believed to be just swelling. If they slow down Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell then this will Keenum and the offense a better chance at trying to steal a win on the road. They looked like they weren't in sync, and this early in the season, that's okay. Jameis Winston seems poised for a strong season, but the uncertainty of how the offense will run, and the possibility of them protecting a lead for most of this game make him a high-risk high-reward play this week. Now, the blame isn't exclusively on the offensive line, Bell played a limited role and didn't make superior plays when his name was called. This is mainly because he was matched against elite Vikings corner Xavier Rhodes for most of the game. Basically, let's see what happens when the Steelers' high-flying offense - that was just held down by a division opponent in Cleveland - puts the pressure on Minnesota to keep pace.

"When you have guys like Cam, Bud, Chickillo, and (Javon) Hargrave out there winning their one-on-ones, when you have somebody not getting double-teamed, that is always better for us", said Shazier.

The Steelers already have their franchise rusher, but they're working him back into game shape.

"I don't have a crystal ball", Zimmer said.

The Vikings will likely be even more frustrated if Bradford is out long-term. "He might play one game for now, he might play six weeks from now". It's one game. But we're not going to throw in the towel. Kicker Kia Forbath also missed his sixth extra in two seasons as a Viking after the team's lone TD in the second half. Rothlisberger finished the game 23 of 35 for 243 yards and 2 TDs. He made some plays for us. In fact, of the 20 total rushes that the Vikings offense had during Sunday's game, almost half of them, 9 to be exact, were successful ones based on down, distance and yards gained. Cook caught two passes on three targets for zero yards, but his one drop could have been a big play.

Roethlisberger hit Martavis Bryant for a 27-yard score in the first quarter and flipped a shovel pass to JuJu Smith-Schuster that the rookie turned into a 4-yard score. 35 rushing yards is far from adequate for the Steelers, especially when they are facing the worst team in the National Football League last season. "[Keenum] got deep a couple times, you know, and we're not protecting at that depth". For the Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0) it would have been hard to look worse in a three-point win over the Cleveland Browns.

According to head coach Mike Zimmer, Bradford is "fine" and may be back for Week 3-or he could be out for several weeks. "Sometimes we still have to do some one-on-one battles, but I think we are doing a better job, especially compared to this time previous year". "We've been in that situation thousands of times in practice".
