Encore for Kareem Hunt as Chiefs rookie shines in second half

"I think he was falling over, so I was just more or less trying to throw it away", Wentz admitted. And they proceeded to harass quarterback Carson Wentz most of the game, plugged up the running game and were able to knock down a last-play heave in the end zone that could have tied the game. Well, I can't speak for Pederson, who had complete control over the play calling.

Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, who finished with 333 passing yards, responded.

Series history: The Eagles and Chiefs will be meeting for the eighth time on Sunday.

Blount had no carries Sunday, and Pederson had no explanation.

The Chiefs converted the two turnovers into 10 points - a 39-yard Cairo Santos field goal off Sproles' fumble, and a 15-yard touchdown by Travis Kelce on a well-executed shovel pass after Wentz's interception.

Blount did not fault the game plan that took him out of the game.

The problem? Houston got past right tackle Lane Johnson and wound up close enough to Wentz to get in the way of the pass.

Darren Sproles was on the field for 50 of the team's offensive snaps, and led the Eagles running backs with 10 carries for 48 yards, catching two balls for an additional 30 yards. But that never happened this Sunday. Seumalo struggled all game.

Pederson served as understudy to Reid first as a player for Green Bay and Philadelphia and later as a coach with the Eagles and Chiefs. The Vikings wanted him so bad, ESPN reported they gave him $20,000 a week to be on their practice squad, more than three times the usual pay.

For the second straight week, the ground game was unable to get going. With the defensive formation stretched in two different directions, the middle of the field was left wide open for Kelce. "It's a team effort, so we have to fix that going forward". It's a team effort.

"It's hard. It's tough to always have to rely on the throw".

"It wasn't, so from that standpoint, It was tough sledding later in the game when sometimes you want to rely on that run game". With a backfield of five total running backs, why not give guys like Blount and Corey Clement more reps? Now, he wasn't having himself the best game until the second half when he broke off a big run for a touchdown, but still. They still managed to lose because they don't take advantage of their chances.

Maybe. But that logic is going to get his quarterback killed. That's entirely dependent upon the flow of the game.

The Eagles lost, so I suppose you can pin that on whatever you like. Its one thing if he is playing center and getting man- handled, I could accept that, but he is playing left guard, a pretty pivotal spot in the line considering it is part of Carson's blind side and that they run most of their run plays to that side.

In the end, Coach Doug Pederson called 56 pass plays (including sacks and scrambles), just 13 runs.

In truth, it was a good game all around.

"I thought Kareem and the offensive line kind of got warmed up as we went", Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. Alshon Jeffery didn't have much of an impact, but he went after and almost came down with some balls that no Eagles receiver would have had a chance of catching since probably Terrell Owens. The Chief's Kareem Hunt, a third-round pick, was tops in that category and flexed his muscles again this week with a pair of touchdowns, including a 53-yard scoring run in the third quarter. Calling your run game broken after just 33 plays is like saying your new auto doesn't work before you've even pulled it out of the lot. When your defensive line is this dominant in a game, it has a domino effect and makes it easier on the linebackers and the secondary.
