Brissett starting for Colts against Cardinals

Bethel started off the game with an unbelievable interception returned for a touchdown, but then followed it up with two touchdowns given up. Hairston - the fifth-round cornerback from Temple - had one of Indianapolis' four sacks on a second-half blitz. Arizona just caught some bad breaks in week one, including losing David Johnson.

"We'll never say we're sorry for winning", Arians said. "And just being able to get a good read on the quarterback and making the play". The Cardinals trailed Indianapolis 10-3 at the break.

After leading the Colts to 10 points on their first two drives Sunday, the offense bogged down and Brissett made the biggest mistake of the game by throwing an interception on the first play of overtime.

He admitted there's still a lot of work to do after his first start with Indianapolis. You can't have four takeaways, give the ball up four times, four turnovers. Humphries was also ruled out but he was expected to miss at least this week with a strained MCL suffered in Detroit on Sunday.

Frank Gore scored on a 5-yard touchdown run and Adam Vinatieri made two field goals for the Colts. Johnson, the NFL's touchdown leader a year ago with 20 and the league's leading player in yards from scrimmage, represented almost 40 percent of the Cardinals' offense.

Palmer took the Cardinals 40 yards in six plays on their possession, setting up Dawson for a 40-yard field goal to tie it.

The defense added an interception of their own. Vinatieri missed a field goal and an extra point. Brissett led them to a touchdown on their first drive and a field goal on their second drive. "We when we have the opportunity to make plays, we make plays". It ain't about last week we get blown out and this week we lose by 3.

Like I've said before, we don't know if Brissett, the owner of just two starts in his still-young National Football League career, can make any difference against the Cardinals. Tolzien offers no value to the team and the Colts would be pretty much giving up on the season if they kept him as the starter. And Palmer thought he had done it again when he positioned Dawson for a 42-yarder as time expired.

This is less about Brissett and more about Tolzien, who stunk in the team's 46-9 loss to the Rams last weekend. And they handled the job, albeit against a Tennessee team that hasn't beaten the Colts since Tennessee received statehood. This trio combined for 348 rushing yards and three touchdowns playing second fiddle to Johnson last season. "We've got to find a way".

All things considered, this may be a long season for Cardinals fans.

"We just shot ourselves in the foot offensively", Arians said.
