The Red Devils have also moved to secure Luke Shaw's future after extending his deal-which was to expire next summer-by another year, per James Nursey of the Mirror. Now the talented English left back only has a few months left to salvage his career at the club.
According to a report by The Sun, Ashley Young wants to hold showdown talks with Jose Mourinho regarding his future and is interested in staying for another year. And while his record compares favourably as far as silverware goes, he falls short when it comes to longevity at a single club.
"I think we were very clever", Mourinho told The Times.
"I'm feeling good, I'm feeling fit".
He is in the second season of his United reign while Wenger is in his 22nd at Arsenal. That's where the real fight will begin for the injury-prone left back.
"Some bad games didn't allow us to win it a year ago, but we need to find that consistency that can make us fight in the last months and be one of those teams that will be up there". To play very well and win, that is perfection. Chelsea must already regret allowing him to leave, though they would never admit it.
On the other hand, Juan Mata was once engaged in an epic feud with Mourinho.
Mourinho's United beat Ajax 2-0 and won the Europa League final, and his judgement of Sanchez likely made his mind up not to entertain a transfer for him this summer.
"If it does I am happy but it's not the aim", he said. "He has great qualities and the mentality to become a big, big player".
They will also face CSKA Moscow in Europe, Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup and Everton, Southampton and Crystal Palace in the Premier League before September comes to a close and another global break offers some respite. His ascent to stardom was mercurial.
Mata, 29, is donating one percent of his wage to Common Goal, which funds football-based charities around the world.
United boss Mourinho believes if his club had waited to land their top targets they would have paid significantly increased fees as a result.
