Here's how close Georgia Tech came to beating Tennessee

Of course, just as last season proved you can rely on such efforts only so often before you're too exhausted or emotionally spent to keep repeating them, the Vols would be wise not to continue to count on the cloth their players are cut from or their love of the grind to keep manufacturing football miracles. "We just needed to start executing". Jauan Jennings left the game due to injury. But there were also some positives.
Said walk-on defensive lineman Paul Bain - quite possibly the most important hero of this win - as to why the Vols have so often staged these comebacks: "We're just cut from a different cloth than a lot of teams". I think Tennessee has shown many times they have that will to win. "I came from their sideline and tried to run to the ball as fast as I could". This game and the one on Sunday night between the Texas A&M Aggies and the UCLA Bruins definitely had us on the edge of our seats. John Kelly, played very well. Monday night had to shatter that kid's confidence.
"Marquez Callaway really sparked us, made some very, very key plays for us", Jones said. "We have a short week and a quick game coming up".
Luckily for the Vols' defense, Indiana State doesn't possess Georgia Tech's patented option attack, but the Sycamores do have a risky running threat in senior LeMonte Booker. When you're breaking in a new offense, and quarterback, rhythm is everything. It was an option, like nearly every Tech play; Marshall could keep the ball and try to plunge three yards forward himself, or he could pitch to trailing B-back KirVonte Benson. Francois was hurt during the fourth quarter of Saturday's loss to Alabama in Atlanta. Mechanically, he has a lot of issues. About 24 hours after the game, a son of wide receivers coach Mike Locksley was shot and killed in Maryland. Overall, Callaway was the only consistent target for Dormady in his first career start. They overran us and I thought I could get up under it.
But, in terms of his state quo on campus, he doesn't expect that to alter much, even though he's a big reason Tennessee sits at 1-0. I know Justin Martin can't continue to be a starter for this team.
Sophomore Brandon Johnson will likely see a sharp increase in playing time while Jennings is out. Give them credit: "We didn't and they knocked the ball out".
Georgia Tech dominated time of possession 56:27 to 18:33 and still lost. I still liked what I saw from both of them. All that was left for him was to actually play.
Now he's a single game into his latest season with the Yellow Jackets and he already has a odd loss under his belt.
In conjunction with the GOLDOUT game, Georgia Tech's official GOLDOUT t-shirts are now available for purchase. And that's exactly what Tennessee did.
The Vols host Indiana State and tickets are still available. Typically I hate these games. With player's graduating and declaring early for the National Football League draft, the "next man up" philosophy is one every program must subscribe to.
Even in defeat, the Yellow Jackets certainly know that they can depend on a solid running game, a staple of head coach Paul Johnson.
Jones and his new-look coaching staff will have to do their best work to get this young team to contend in the SEC East and live up to top 25 expectations.
